After last night, we can safely take Okposo and Kuilikov out of the thread title.

If i had to guess, i think Kane will be out for ~6-8 weeks. Cracked ribs are a hell of an injury because it messes with your ability to breathe comfortably...which is, ya know, kind of important when you are playing professional hockey.

The 3 ribs are broke. Not just cracked. This will be a loooog recovery for Kane.

Not that being sick counts, but I said after Eichel went down the worst part about Eichel's injury is Kane, Bogosian, and Lehner will soon follow. I know, I'm Mr. Negative.

Just curious, is there a reason Evander Kane has not been placed on IR?

They haven't needed the roster spot so far. He probably won't be put on IR until they do.

Returning to KeyBank Center Wednesday, the Buffalo Sabres again practiced without goaltender Robin Lehner. Coach Dan Bylsma said Lehner is still out with an illness.

"Still not feeling well so obviously not here today and we will see going forward but again he was under the weather this morning. So, sick still," Bylsma said Wednesday afternoon.

"This is our fourth guy that’s gotten ill and it’s all kind of been about the same amount of time frame – about a two-day window that it’s happened.
So Robin’s just a shade over those two days now and hopefully he’ll start feeling better today. We’ll see going forward in terms of him coming back to the ice."

You didn't watch, listen or read about the first game of the season then.

I was very far from seeing the first game, but that was one of my first option. Short memory.

he was upended near the end boards while chasing the puck with a lot of speed. Not sure if it was the landing on the ice or sliding into the boards that did it, but he was down for a long time writhing in agony.

@BNHarrington - Bylsma said Nicolas Deslauriers is going to be out weeks with a knee injury suffered in a mid-ice collision in the final two minutes Saturday vs Florida.

Forward Hudson Fasching left todays game in the first period after playing just one shift with what the team said was a groin injury.
Bylsma had no update on Fasching's status but acknowledged the Sabres will likely need another forward to come up for Tuesday's game there against the Wild.

Hudson Fasching did not practice on Monday after leaving in Winnipeg with a groin injury in the first period.
Bylsma said that Fasching will not play against the Wild on Tuesday night.
The Sabres will recall a forward from Rochester to join the lineup in his absence.

Hudson Fasching missed practice yesterday after exiting Sunday's game early with a groin injury.
Bylsma considered Fasching day-to-day when asked about his status this morning on WGR 550, but he will not play tonight.
Bylsma confirmed that Justin Bailey has been recalled, so he will be in the lineup tonight for the first time this season.
