I'll be listening on my nice drive to scenic Rainbow Lake.

What ever happened to Alex Fomitchev? I thought he looked good in training camp a couple of years ago.

He's playing for Sibir Novosibirsk in the Russian Super League with Mikhnov. He's playing very well (4-3-2 1.24 GAA on a poor team), but he isn't Oilers property anymore. He seems to have suddenly improved when the Oilers gave up on him.

Yes... any chance I get I love to ride Guy about his last name...
which is a bizarre one for a guy covering the Oilers.

Bryn thought it was my stage name the first time I met him. Like I would take that as a stage name!

guy, when you fill out documents with your personal information, does "Flaming Guy" ever cause indecent proposals from our limper-wristed friends?

That makes me think of something that happened shortly after I first met my wife. She called he sister from my place one morning and the sister, who had call display, thought I was a male stripper or something because that's how it appeared on her phone: "Flaming Guy".

Yes the fun never ends with my last name. I blame my parents.

Gotcha. I can't tune in tomorrow, but good luck!

Be sure to indulge Jake's ongoing sumo-goalie obsession with some Andrei Medvedev anecdotes.

oops. I guess it just seemed like a no-brainer... hockey's future + fat goalies = morbidly obese goalie prospect.

Hey, if it wasn't for fat goalies, I'd probably be making Subway comercials in my spare time. I'm glad to see my beer gut makes me a prospect .

So, anybody catch that? Geez, it's harder in the mornings than it is on the afternoon show.

Thanks to Bryn and Jake - see you at the games again.

about last night... about tomorrow night... about Comrie... about Sumo goalies (Medvedev)... about the glass half empty or half full.

Did anyone else hear it? What do you think Guy Half empty or half full? Is Comrie going to be dealt after the 10 game mark or are we in for the long haul. Dec. - Mar. Can we expect to see Conklin get the green light a little more often as it is becoming more obvious that Salo won't be here after this year? Has Medvedev seen any action in Calgary?

I think the glass is half full. So does Jake . Bryn seems like he still feels it's half full but believes the Oil get blown out tomorrow. Stauffer on the other hand... he's Mr. glass-half-empty.

No sign to the end of the Comrie story. I said before the season that I thought something would happen around Halloween but I've heard nothing to support that guess.

I sure don't feel like you do that Salo is "Obviously not going to be here next year". It wasn't a great game but I don't lay all the blame on him for the loss to St. Louis either. But if you think we need to acquire a goalie... do you trade Comrie for a goalie and then Salo for the big centerman? Hmmmmm that's intriguing.

Medvedev has not played at all for CGY. He's still in Russia like Mikhnov and Koltsov are for us. He played in the WJC though. He's fat.

Thanks Guy, Your input is always appreciated.

If have to say I feel that the glass is half full. We have too much in our system to think otherwise. Guys like Greene and Niinimaki(even injured) also Pouliot and Winchester. And quality young guys on the big club. Hemmer, Raffi, Stoll, Semenov...

My feeling is that most teams are in a feeling out stage until roughly the 10 game mark. Then most of the rookies that dont stick are returned to their farm clubs and if there is a need, that is the time to start addressing it. So your guess of Halloween is probably very close. Cross my fingers. No predictions on who or where as almost every team has beem rumored so far.

My reason for singling out Salo is not that I blame him for every loss. I think the whole team collapsed against St-Lou but he certainly didn't instill calm with his imitation of a fish out of water. I don't know forsure but I get the impression that K-Lowe isn't happy with him. Why? The playoffs and having Peters stay with him over the summer. He has our GM's attention and not in a good way. Days are numbered IMO.
for fun...
Comrie for Biron
Salo for O-Neil

You'd think that being Fat would be an advantage. I often wondered why linebackers dont play goal. Tough to score when you cant see the net.
