It will be interesting to see what happens to HNIC ratings if Roger does not renew their contract with CBC. Would they show it on Global instead?

Isn't that possibility several years away?

After next year (the end of year four) is when the agreement with CBC ends.

EDIT: To add, I think Rogers not continuing showing games on CBC would be ratings suicide.

Ah, I had forgotten it ended after four years. Thanks.

Yesterday,

Does anyone know what the highest hawks rating is? Did they ever come close to 50.0 for a deciding game?

They are having a hard time selling Centennial CLassic tickets in Toronto. Average price seems to be around $300/ea, I'm thinking under $100 on the secondary market a week before the game

January 1st is not the ideal day to entertain clients, so I would imagine interest from the corporate sector will not be too high. Meanwhile, $1200 for a family of four seems like a lot for a game with bad sightlines.

We will see I guess.

Yes, Nicky. That is interesting:

Indians-Cubs Gm6 40.2 rtg in Chicago

Blackhawks-Lightning Gm6 41 rtg in Chicago

I have all SNs and I still watched it on FOX.. and when i played poker with the boys last week, we all said we watched playoffs on FOX.

Also, the habs were playing Van at same time. that's 2 of the 3 biggest markets in canada playing each other, and both have great starts. Also, this 2.7M is not including french viewers who were watching it on RDS2.

God only knows how many Canadians watched this game..

Amazing how popular the Cubs are because of this 108 yr drought. 40.1M viewers watched it...I bet if this was BlueJays/ Brewers, that # might've been 5.5M in the U.S.

A World Series game 7 probably has a floor of about 25 million. Twins/Braves did 51M. The TWINS and the BRAVES.
Game 5 (last game) in 2015 did 24M

I'd be interested to know how much the average ratings for hockey games on NBC sports have increased/decreased from this point last year.

After a month HNIC games on Saturday have shown a nice increase over last season.

Here are the most-watched sports events on English-language television from the past weekend, according to Numeris overnight ratings:

NHL, Canucks-Leafs/Sabres-Sens/Oilers-Isles/Flyers-Habs, Saturday, CBC-Sportsnet-City: 2,200,000
NFL, Colts-Packers/Saints-Niners, Sunday, CTV: 848,000
NHL, Flames at Kings, Saturday, CBC-Sportsnet: 678,000
NFL, Steelers-Ravens/Eagles-Giants/Lions-Vikes, Sunday, CTV: 670,000
CFL, Roughriders at Lions, Saturday, TSN: 582,000
NHL, Hockey Central, Saturday, CBC-Sportsnet-City: 503,000
CFL, Argonauts at Eskimos, Saturday, TSN: 491,000
NHL, Jets at Rangers, Sunday, Sportsnet-360: 440,000
CFL, Blue Bombers at Redblacks, Saturday, TSN: 387,000
CFL, Alouettes at Tiger-Cats, Saturday, TSN: 364,000
NFL, Broncos at Raiders, Sunday, TSN: 316,000 (NBC audience not measured)
NBA, Kings at Raptors, Sunday, Sportsnet One: 244,000
MLS, TFC at NYC, Sunday, TSN: 221,000
NHL, Flames at Ducks, Sunday, Sportsnet One: 215,000
NHL, Oilers at Red Wings, Sunday, Sportsnet West: 212,000
MLS, Montreal at NY Red Bulls, Sunday, TSN: 181,000
NHL, Jets at Red Wings, Friday, TSN Regional: 106,000
More importantly the early HNIC on CBC is showing in Canada's Top 30 programs for the week again which is something that didn't happen often the last 2 years.

Canada has a love affair with 'The Big Bang Theory' that is staggering as nothing comes close to that show for eyeballs. Keep in mind the Top 30 numbers include DVR playback for 7 days after the show airs.

In Quebec the Habs are winning and the viewers are back

NBCSN is down a little but nothing major. The Wednesday night games have been hammered by MLB playoffs.

Just trying to go off of memory from this year's and last year's numbers for an uneducated guess, I'd say HNiC early games are up, HNiC late games are down, Hockey Central/pre-game on Saturdays are up, and Hometown Hockey continues to be a money-sucking, ratings disaster.
