OT - Flyers Land Nedved...

Flyers dealt defenseman Seidenberg to the Yotes for Petr Nedved. Details to follow.

Thank god, too. That's one less thing we have to worry about.

I'm glad...

I have Nedved in a fantasy pool. I'll just leave it at that.

well I bet with Forsberg passing him the puck on the PP, his shot will still go wide.

Or...

if they somehow are on the PP together he'll have enough room to take that beauty of a wrist shot. Some players do well in certain situations, and those same players don't do well in certain situations. Philly's a good team with complementary players, and with players who are the leaders. Nedved's not a go-to guy. He's a complementary player. In the correct role, in the right situation, with the right linemates, he can excel. It sounds as though the moons have to be aligned for Nedved to be successful, and for brief periods in New York that's what we saw. He may be heading back into that type of situation. At worse, he'd be additive offensively on the PP to Handzus. Finding 15-18 minutes per night may be the difficult part. I'm guessing this was done with a plan.

The closest he'll be with Forsberg is on the IR. Nedved has been injured over and over again this season.

05-Jan-06: Missed 4 games (groin).
26-Dec-05: Groin, day-to-day.
03-Dec-05: Missed 3 games (concussion).
23-Nov-05: Concussion, sidelined indefinitely.
20-Nov-05: Missed 9 games (elbow injury).
30-Oct-05: Elbow injury, late November.
13-Oct-05: Missed 3 games (groin).
06-Oct-05: Groin, sidelined indefinitely.

Double Ouch...just read that Nedved still has 3 more years left on his contract.

I seriously doubt that Nedved is with the Flyers past this season if that long. Seids wasnt going to play for the Flyers anytime soon
the Flyers not knowing what they got? lets see they have had Brashear and Sim on the 2nd line. they needed to try something else, and if Nedved doesnt work out they can just waive him. like they would have for Seids who would have needed to clear waivers to send him to the Phantoms when Pitkanen gets back tomorrow.
im neither upset or happy with this deal.

Am I the only one around here who doesn't really have a problem with the effort Nedved put in while on Broadway? He was certainly not a "lazy" player by any means, the guys was always flying on the ice. He definitely did not perform up to expectations and was definitely an enigma, but lazy, no. I can see him playing very well for the Flyers.

If there was an NHL award for the player who wastes the most effort to gain such little results it would be Nedved. In fact if there was such an award after Nedved won it for the 14th consectutive year they would simply name it the NEDVED and everyone would know what that award was for!

Clarke had to have another one of his brain farts that he is known for. Only this time the meds they put him must be working to some degree. Typically he would have given away the store. This time he just acquired the stiff! That in and of itself shows that the meds are working!

He may play well in Philly in a limited role if he dosn't get injured again. At least he's not coming back to NY

Wait till he scores against us, kids (we got 7 games against Flyers). Who do you think was a better than Nedved RANGER center for the last 10 years? Oh, you wouldn't know being in elementary school back then...

Petr was a great hardworking player when he had his last stint here. People just don't seem to remember he was the best thing on an awful team.

So very happy we didn't land another former Ranger. His proximity will only justify our fears of landing him. His most lasting memory is having his shot deflected into a camera over the ice. Of course I reserve a spot in my heart for his post-crossbar-post-and-out on an open net.

No, you're not. Nedved was very good his first couple of years in his last stint. He sucked in 2001-2, but rebounded the next year. But, it was time for him to move when he did. He was always classy, and faced the music regardless of how he played. My only regret is wondering if Sather traded him on the cheap to Edmonton, since Nashville claimed they had a better deal on the table for him. We did get a 2nd rounder that we traded down for (I believe) Dunbinsky and Ryan, in addition to Dwight Helminen.

I dont think its such a smart trade for Philly, although Seidenberg wasn't really playing (though he should have been)..obviously something is up with Primeau, because Clarke hates Nedved...this is what he said about him a while back...

Clarke made the comment in 1998, when Nedved and Pavel Bure were on the trade block after failing to come to terms with their clubs. "What makes you think these guys are not going to walk out on the next team they go to?" Clarke told the Camden (N.J.) Courier-Post in rejecting trade rumours involving the two snipers. "Bure's just as dumb as Nedved, and Nedved is an idiot."

Wow! You have a serious hate-on for Bob Clarke. It's hard to debate the guy's success. The current team is very good and has been for as long as the Rangers have been very poor; he's found excellent young talent in the draft; he works the cap very well; and he's draft conscious - he's stockpiled picks in this year's draft and even in this trade he's arranged an optional swap of 3rd and 4th round picks over the next two years. (And given the two teams, it seems pretty likely that the Flyers will be exercising that right and will be moving up in those rounds.)

I'd take Clarke in a heartbeat over Sather. You'll disagree.

On the Nedved trade, he will help them if he decides to, simple as that. Nedved can still do good things on the ice; he has to make the decision to do so.

Edit - And isn't it about time for CHRDANHUTCH to come on here and yell at us for talking about FORMER Rangers?
