Habs claim Downey off waivers

per TSN.

Limited skill, but decent gritty middleweight.

Great pickup? The worst team in the league just waived him. Try far from great.

I dont get why you'd take him over Ivanans or Vandermeer or why the habs wouldnt have put in a claim for or tried to trade for Colton Orr when he was available if they wanted a fighter. As its been said Downey's been in 3 fights this year and has three losses. 2 by way of KO. Not very impressive.

A guy like Orr would be a god in Montreal. I always thought Hordichuk would be a great fit too.

People scoffed when the Preds gave up a fourth for Hordichuk, but he's been well worth it. Great when it comes to leadership, great when it comes to the community\interacting with fans, and never takes a shift off. Knows his role, and already surpassed his career high in goals in a season. I hope he's a Predator for a long time to come.

If they wanted an enforcer off waivers they should have grabbed Oliwa.

good point about Oliwa making more money. I do think Oliwa is a better fighter though, being 6'5 helps.
