Could we go back to the early lines

This is not a thread about your linups. I keep wondering what in the hell motivates the coaching staff to stick with the new lines that obviously don't work. Go back to the lines that were working early in the season..

Perezhogin-Koivu-Kovalev
Ryder-Ribeiro-Kostitsyn/Zednik*
Bulis-Bonk-Sundstrom
Higgins-Bégin-Ferland/Kostitsyn*

All the line shuffling started with Julien not being satisfied with some players defencive game (we were still winning at the time). IMO all the Julien juggling resulted in total chaos within the lines, and has caused the downfall. It's time to put a fast hardworking puck chasing Perezhogin with Koivu and Kovy, instead of Ryder. It's time to give Ribeiro wingers that can fill the net; Ryder and Kostitsyn (which occurs to have dramatically upgraded his passing and his defencive habilities). Time to use the responsible players as a third line, not expect them to fill the 2nd line expectations. Time to give Bégin-Ferland the mandate to hit, not anything else.. and use Higgins one the 2nd ,3rd and 4th lines, when some guys don't deliver as expected.

Anyone feeling the same

I agree but your missing key players like Plekenec and Murray. I would put Murray on the 4th with Begin and Higgins and Plekenec centering the 3rd line and get rid of Bonk and Zednik.

You honestly think line combinations matter right now?

Theodore's in net.

I have to laugh at everyone's "get rid of Zednik" solution. Too bad that won't help any, eh?

getting rid of zednik is not the solution that will take us over the top. You can laugh all you want but you have to admit that zed has grossly underachieved on a team of underachievers.

He's always making the wrong move with the puck like his head is somwhere else. I've said before that a change of scenery might do zed some good and I do think there are teams that would be interested in his services.

My line up with everyone healthy...

Plekanec, Koivu, Kovalev
Ryder, Riberio, Zednick
Bulis, Bonk, Higgins
Kost, Begin, Sundstrom

Pleks played well with Koivu and Kovalev earlier when he was spotting in. Eventhough not a fan of Riberio, with our lack of scoring, he needs to play. He has two wingers who are capable of scoring 30 goals..no excuses. Third line should produce some offence..with Bonks lack of speed, we make it up with two pretty fast wingers. 4th line..well who knows. Love to see Kost to get some more ice time though...that being said, he has to play on the top two lines. Maybe you move Pleks to the second line center and kost on the first line and Riberio..well...4th line I guess and powerplay duty. In terms of Perez..he has to show something in Hamilton to warrant a call up in my opinion.

If we could just make some players disappear, I like these "fantasy" lines:

Ryder, Koivu, Kovalev
Bulis, Plekanec, Kostitsyn
Higgins, Ribeiro, Perezhogin
Murray, Begin, Ferland/Lapierre/Lemieux

Kostitsyn Koivu Kovalev
Higgins Plekanec Ryder
Bulis Bonk Sundstrom/Perzoghin
Begin Ribeiro Zednik/Murray

i think the key to our scoring success is getting kostisyn koivu and kovalev together. I hope they will be together next game and when they do get together they are going to light it up. It's a promise..lol they will light it up together.

I really think that might be a good idea.
I would maybe make a couple changes though.

Pleks - Koivu - Kovy
Ryder - Ribs - Higgins
Bulis - Bonk - Zednik (this lines seems to be doing well)
Murray - Begin - Sunny

Hmm, Kosts with Koivu would be very interesting. I can't wait till he starts to shoot. I've heard a lot about his shot and from the few times I've seen him shoot, I've been impressed.

The thread was about going back to the lines that were successful early in the season. According to what resulted, I guess very few agree with it.

Well, I'm convinced that (at least) bringing Perezhogin back with Kovy and Saku would put the line back on it's feet. I remember Saku said about the line that it was the best line he ever played on. Plus Ryder will score as much with Ribeiro. He dosen't need Koivu or Kovalev, but those two need Perezhogin IMO... since Ryder and Zednik are both selfish on the puck.
