GDT: 1/23/06 Phoenix@Dallas

I'm guessing that Boucher gets the start and then Cujo will start on the next night in Minnesota, although I haven't seen it reported yet.

After the mistakes the Coyotes made against Edmonton who was 4-4-2 in it's last 10 compared to Dallas who is 6-3-1 in their last 10, I think the Coyotes could be in for a rough night. Include in that the Coyotes are 1-8 after winning two straight games(5 of those games were an OT/SHO win), the prognosis doesn't look positive.

Phoenix is 5-5 in it's last 10 and a road win would put them at .500 on the road for the season right now.

Previous meetings, 10/11/05 3-2 loss in Dallas, 10/29/05 5-3 loss in Phoenix, 11/25/05 4-1 win in Dallas, 12/23/05 3-2 win in Dallas.

Sergei Zubov has been on an offensive tear in January with 13 points in 10 games. Johan Hedberg has played better this month than Marty Turco who has a 3.34 GAA & .864 sv% compared to Hedberg's 1.68 GAA & .921 sv%.

Nagy & Ballard lead the team with points in January, each with 8 points in 8 games. Cujo has 2.99 GAA & .875 sv% in January, while Boucher has 5.00 GAA & .853 sv% in January.

I think Cujo will get the start , until he loses. I know it's been reported that Boucher will get a game in, but I think they will ride Cujo for a bit.

Coyotes can win this game if they play to their full potential.

Hopefully the SAVE OUR SOUL (S.O.S) line continues to provide secondary scoring.
Coyotes broadcasters call SJOSTROM, OLEG, SANDERSON as S.O.S line. We are winning now because we are getting key goals from other players not just Nagy & Doan all the time.

I agree. That line has been really good. Snaderson looks to have new life in the C position. Sjostrom's confidence seems to grow every game. And Saprykin, well he always looks totally out of control, but somehow it works. They're going to the net with authority, creating chances and it's paying off.

The Nash-Comrie-Scatchard line has been pretty good as well.

Ricci and Devereaux have been really bad. Hopefully the can figure something out with these guys...

"Curtis Joseph is expected to start in goal tonight. Joseph has won his past three starts, allowing nine goals in that span - although three of those goals were scored accidentally by teammates."

i think joseph is the right call. he's got the hot hand the past few games, while boucher struggled vs. washington. plus we're playing a division rival that's ahead of us in the standings.

good move

Cujo is the right call. Saturday night VS Edmonton, he stood on his head for us once again. I say go with Cujo as much as possible unless it is a back to back or something. But right now he has the hot glove hand and blocker, no need to put a stop to our momentum when the Coyotes are only 6 points of 8th place.

How can we continue to play Ricci he is tooooo slow. One of our highest minus's and is always on when we get scored on when he is penalty killing. What makes Gtrezky think he is such a good checker? He must be watching his tapes of 5 years ago.

The coyotes got their ***** kicked tonight. It's pretty bad when your best fowards are Sjostrom& Nash, and I don't mean this in a bad way towards those two. Nash & Sjostrom always seem to give a good effort. Cujo played well also! He had a few bounces go against him, and probably would have had a better result,if it wasn't for the poor defence. We were like the parting of the red sea!
I hope we get another scoring foward soon, because with Hull and Nedved gone there really isn't much offence to look foward to. I know Nedved didn't bring much and Hull retired, but we have some money to aquire some scoring help. Sjostrom should get promoted up to a scoring line, the way he has worked as of late. The only good news on the night, is that Edmonton is losing to Calgary 3-1 3rd period. We won't lose any ground.

We are a .500 team plus or minus a game or two by the end of the year. Lots have said it many times already and I now believe it. That won't get us into the playoffs. I think we need to stay with what we have and see where we are at the trade deadline. If we are within 5 or so points then go all out for a scorer, if not, sell.

By the way, the rookie d-men were due to show their ages soon. Who knew it would be to a combined -7. Yikes. Let's hope they aren't wearing out and that they can play well through the rest of the season. It has got to be difficult being asked to do what they are and play the minutes in all situations they need to with the inexperience they have.

He caught a stick right near the eye in the first period. Missed most of that period because of it.
