Yeah, I expected this. Not surprised. After Nejezchleb and that Czech kid (Can't think of his name right now), he is just the next in a long line of players who didn't make it

Gorts has slowly but surely been putting his own stamp on the org, including both on the rosters and in the FO.

When does Kenny G's seat (FINALLY) start to get hot...?

Gernander is one of the worst coaches in pro hockey. I have no idea why we let this guy continue to coach Hartford.

They've made the playoffs five times and missed it four times. Best showing was a tough loss in the conference finals.

Company Man Ken is a mediocre coach and I don't care for him. But to say he's one of the worst coaches in all of professional hockey is hyperbole.

This.

People saw him in 2011 during Traverse and because all they saw before were NHL coaches, they soured on Kenny G. The reality is that just as AHLers are worse than NHLers among players and refs, the same applies to coaches. Company Man Ken does his job as an AHL coach. He's not a great AHL coach, but you quickly lose those to some NHL team. With Ken, you know what you get, it's going to be passable year to year at the AHL level, nothing spectacular and no huge issues. But he's not the worst coach in pro hockey, he's just worse than NHL coaches.

There's a reason no one has interviewed him for anything. We should be looking at up and comers in that role. Find that next future NHL coach whether it's here or elsewhere. Someone good the AHL shouldn't just be for developing players. Beuke cut his teeth down there now an assistant here. Didn't ulfie do the same?

Gernander is on his best day awful. Would love to see him gone. Hopefully gorton puts his stamp there soon. Maybe capuano can come in when the isles fire him.

new HWP assistant Keith McCambridge was recently 5 year AHL HC, also prior a ECHL HC
http://www.eliteprospects.com/staff.php?staff=1034

hoping he is being eased in to take over

had bad record last year with very young team, but had success prior
" In the final stretch of 2015-16, Manitoba had 15 players either in their first or second year of pro. For much of the year, the team often iced a lineup with a rookie count hitting double digits"

"In his first year as a head coach in the AHL, McCambridge led the IceCaps to the conference final. Two years later, the IceCaps made it all the way to the Calder Cup, only to fall short to the Texas Stars in five games."

I don't disagree that there are probably better candidates than Gernander. But to say he's awful on his best day is, again, hyperbole that's not really supported by any objective analysis or fact.

FIRST PERIOD

Playing against Baby Islanders known as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Nieves now playing with Jensen and Brown. He used to play with Kovacs and Stromwall. Graves with paired with Bodie. Gilmour is paired with McIlrath. Paliotta and Summers are the other pair, and they actually started the game.

Graves keeps the trend from prior games of shooting every time he comes close to the puck.

McIlrath tries to pass to Stromwall, but fails.

Glass is now on the line with Strom and Kovacs. Looks like the line of Strom-Nieves-Kovacs was completely broken up.

Good hit and defensive play by McIlrath.

Summers with a good rush.

Paliotta very visible out there to start the game and in a good way.

Graves never holds the puck for over a second on offense. As soon as it's coming his way, he lines up for a slap shot.

Rambo really can't stickhandle to save a life. He tries to skate with it, but not fast enough to outskate anyone.

Hrivik - Rambo - Fontaine are on the same line.

PACK PP: Hrivik with a good pass to Paliotta, but he shoots a wrister instead of slapper. Rambo tried to get a garbage goal, but couldn't fish it out.

Gilmour with a good defensive play.

I don't have any stats for it, but Nieves doesn't win a lot of face offs.

Nieves just grabbed the puck and blew right past a baby Islander. It looked like he was skating past a cone even though the Tiger was trying to skate hard. Just tremendous speed and great awareness. Couldn't bury it, however.

Glass with a good pass to McRae, but good defense but the Tigers.

Summers really doesn't know what to do on defense.

Hellberg is good positionally, big and decently athletic, but his rebound control fluctuates between average AHLer and total garbage. It's the main reason he's still in the AHL instead of being an NHL backup.

McIlrath shoves an Islander and takes away the puck.

Having a hard time remembering Fogarty do anything with the puck except dump it out. Doesn't seem like he thinks fast enough to make a play at this level.

PACK PP: As soon as the PP starts, the Pack take a penalty. Fontaine is an f'ing moron on the ice every time. Decent tools, but he forgot his brain on the train.

Hrivik with a good move and then a good pass, but Paliotta couldn't catch a basic pass.

Graves playing very well through the first 12 minutes, both defense and offense. Now needs to get better transporting the puck in the center of the ice.

SCORE: Michael Del Colle is a good player. Scores on a hard slap shot after getting himself open while stickhandling. Glass can't figure out what maintaining a proper gap is.

Paliotta with a big hit on his own blue line to knock down the forward trying to dangle around him.

Jensen passes to a wide open brown from a dozen feet away, but no goal.

Hrivik is very obviously the best player on the Pack. Nearly every game he looks like the best guy out there. When he's out there, usually something good happens.

Good redirect by Rambo, but no goal.

Pack PP.

SH GOAL: Toews gets a semi-breakaway because Graves left him alone. Then instead of driving into Toews, Graves tries to mildly use his puck. Terrible defense all around by Graves. 2-0.

Glass with a turnover and then McRae almost kicks the puck into his own net and Hellberg has to met a stretching skate save on McRae. This is awful.

Pack allow Bernier to shoot from up close all alone, terrible defense.

SCORE: With 2.7 seconds to go, Brown pressures an Islander, Jensen steals it and buries it with a hard, accurate wrister. Unassisted. 2-1.

END OF THE FIRST

SECOND PERIOD

Good throw on goal by Nieves to try to trick the goalie, but didn't go in.

PACK PP: The Pack PP is so ugly, holy crap. They can't manage basic stuff like setting up, moving the puck from player to player.

SH PACK: McIlrath fans on a shot, resulting in a clear breakaway for a Tiger and it went in over Hell's glove. 3-1.

So far all the Pack PPs resulted in 2 goals... both of them shorthanded goals against.

Would be nice if Hell stopped something that I am not able to stop. Every one of his saves, I would've stopped it as well.

Hrivik with a great pass to Fontaine in front of the Tiger goalie, but he couldn't put it in.

Why is Kovacs playing with Carey and Fogarty? Gave him two anchors, what's he supposed to do now?

Bodie with a turnover trying to skate the puck out.

SCORE: Holy crap, what a goal by Jensen. Highlight reel! Graves from his own circle with a good pass to Nieves who turns around and throws a blind, but perfect pass to Jensen who then goes around 2 people and beats another defenseman by getting him out of position to free up a shot, then fires it perfectly to make it 3-2.

WTF not sure how Graves didn't get an assist on that one. As usual the refs and the rest of the crew are blind at the AHL level.

Hrivik creates a partial breakaway and nearly tied it, but almost doesn't count.

FIGHT: McIlrath dances with Johnston (6-5 225) for almost a full minutes, then takes off Johnston's helmet, lands two punches, takes one. Johnstron started the right because Dylan landed a big hit on a smaller player before that.

If Graves can ever figure out how to make his slapper accurate, it will be a huge threat on the PP.

Hellberg had about a day and a half to figure out what to do with a rebound, and still managed to create a chance for the Tigers.

Hrivik needs to be back with Jensen instead of having anchors around them. They looked amazing together, and still look good alone, but the anchors f--- it up every time.

SCORE: Well Rambo made me look dumb for saying he can't stickhandle by taking the puck below his own blue line, going around 2 guys, he almost lost it to the first guy, but recovered and scored on the semi-breakaway he created. Very nifty hands to get the puck in front of the goalie and put in. 3-3.

Unassisted but should be assisted by Summers and Hrivik. I don't know what these ******* are watching. I rewatched it 5 times to see if I missed something and it's very clear that Summer and Hrivik need to get assists here.

Stromwall with a stupid turnover, but Graves dives to make a beautiful interception. Nieves then creates an opportunity for Gilmour.

END OF THE SECOND

THIRD PERIOD

As I pointed out, assists were just added on two goals. Graves got the assist on Jensen's goal, and Summers+Hrivik got assists on Rambo's goal.

Jensen outskates a Tiger despite starting further away, reaches one-handed for the puck to steal it and pass it to himself, then shoots, but gets stopped. Great play, great game by Jensen.

Good defensive play by Graves.

Neither Stromwall nor Kovacs look that great without Nieves.

SCORE: Another highlight reel goal, this time by Hrivik. He skates through the middle of the ice, blows right by a defenseman, goes around the goalie, but misses, grabs the rebound off the boards behind the net and shoots it off the goalie into the net. Hrivik is again at a point per game for the season at 9 points in 9 games. He's all over the place every shift. 4-3. Graves and Bodie with assists.

Rambo takes a penalty. Naturally the Pack give up a PP goal. That's 3 special team goals against the Pack, none for. 4-4.

Fogarty is easily closer to an ECHLer right now than the NHLer. He looks lost and scared if the puck every heads his way. He can't react fast enough at this level.

PACK PP: Hrivik cycling led to a tripping call on a Tiger. Let's just hope it won't be a shorthanded hat trick for the Tigers.

Gilmour skates pretty.

Hrivik with a nice pass to Paliotta but he can't score. He then sets up Rambo, but again no finish.

Bodie with a nice pass to Graves, he fires it hard, but into the chest. Graves needs to be more accurate with his shot and to get it off faster.

So much out of position running around on defense by the Pack.

Gilmour makes a good pass to McRae, he shoots, but gets stopped.

Nieves will play in the NHL.

Brown tries to skate, but not fast enough to outskate the Islander.

Jensen is developing into an exciting offensive player.

END OF THE THIRD

OVERTIME

Hrivik, Jensen, Gilmour together out there together and create a chance.

SCORE: Pack caught in a slow change, resulting in a two on one, first shot saved, but left a rebound so the Tigers scored.

FINAL SCORE: 5-4
