If so, I sort of agree that he didn't do anything amazing with the puck at the NHL level other than work for it and try to possess it...but given more time with regular linemates I think that could change. Chemistry could develop.
Yeah for sure, I was a bit unclear. I mean when it comes to holding the puck within the team, puck management. Sometimes it's a good idea to skate over the redline and dump it in. Sometimes it's a good idea to look up and see that your team and the other team is changing and turn back again and pass the puck back to the Ds and keep possession. A kid like Fast has been in the NHL for a few years now because he makes these rights decisions. Hrivik don't have that dimension at all. AV would play him if he did...

Hartford lost to Hershey tonight, 4-2. Goals by Jensen & Summers. Kovacs had an assist on the Summers goal.

Does Tambo have a legit shot at making the NYR in camp next season? He looks like he'll pass his points total in about 2/3 of the games played. He's also listed as a C. Is he more of a winger at the NHL level?

I would think he does depending on how our bottom 6 shakes out after this season.

Which prospects do you think will join the Wolf Pack towards the end of the season.

Day, Fontaine, Gropp, Zborovskiy. They all play for good teams though, so who knows when they'll be available.

The Pack are not making the playoffs and the prospects will go deep in the Juniors, so not sure any of them get serious action. Plus, only Zborovskiy and maybe Gropp have a chance to crack the lineup midseason without getting up to date in preseason. The rest will at most get a cup of coffee for a couple of games.

its all about timing,
even Gettinger, Morrison, Ronning could join on an ATO, just for the experience or evaluation,
if their season ends while HWP still play.

HWP have a long history of bringing kids (not just draftees, UDFAs from junior or college seniors) in on ATO, even if they only get in 1 or even 0 games

I gotta say, Halverson looks awesome tonight. He finally gave up a goal here in the 3rd, but we are winning 2-1, and he has been getting blitzed in the third. I'm talking like 20 shots in the 3rd only halfway through the period. Making big saves. Maybe he is turning a corner....

As soon as I pipe up, he gives up another goal. 2 Goals allowed on 42 shots is a good night's work, though.

Pack won 3-2 and Halverson finished with a .954 SV%. He faced 25 shots in the 3rd. Good game for him.

When you look at the Wolfpack as currently constructed one of the things that stands our for me is their inability to generate shots/scoring chances. Look at the shot totals for the forwards--after 50 games only two of them have hit 100 shots. Jensen-130, Tambellini-100. Jensen averages 3 shots on goal a game. Tambellini averages 2 shots on goal a game--all the other players including Hrivik and Fontaine (their other major offensive threats) average under 2 shots a game and some even under one shot a game. It's not enough. It's not nearly enough.

You're not going to win very much if you're not creating enough offense. The Wolfpack are to the AHL what the Devils are to the NHL. And it's nothing new--it's a pattern that's been going on for years now. Gernander as an assistant coach--maybe okay but the Rangers should find themselves another head coach for Hartford. Gernander makes players into images of the kind of player he was--a responsible AHL checking forward lifer. That's what Hrivik looks like to me when he's called up.

Halverson needs more consistency. He has the occasional flunker of a game which ruins his numbers.

Beast of a game for Halvy. Man I hope Jensen figures out how to translate his scoring to the NHL level, 22 goals on a bad Wolfpack team is nothing to sneeze at.

How is Halvys stick work in HFD? He haven't played when I have watched. That is a big strength of his supposedly, but he held it back a bit in the WJC. Hopefully Kenny isn't shutting it down in the AHL too.

I haven't seen enough to give you an absolute answer, but the timing of your question is perfect...as Halvy just passed the puck from behind his net DIRECTLY to a Phantoms player who was in front of the net. The Phantoms scored. It was one of the most careless passes I've ever seen a goalie make, lol.
