So they dont have to carry both home and away jerseys (and other equipment) on the road.

3rd jerseys tend to be dark.. so you had to bring all your equipment on the roadtrip if one team was wearing its 3rd at home.

Why not sell 82 different sweaters, one for each game? Look at all the revenue that could be generated from the concession stands.

Just another NHL gimmick.

Hey anything to raise some money for the NHL is fine by me. Personally I think most alternate jerseys are ugly (see minnesota's Santa's Elfs jerseys or Colorado's blatant ripoff of the Rags jersey) but hey it's money the more money made by the NHL the better. This league really is going down the crapper.

BY the way.... what the hell was the guy on when he designed the Stars jerseys?

Maybe hockey should be a little more concerned with the quality of the game rather how cool the colors look at $100 a pop.

the nhl made that desicion in the off season
its the way it used to be obviolsy thats why the rangers are called the broadway blues......anyway the real reason they are doing it (or so i heard on angles) is that dark jerseys sales were horrible so they switched it up.....

so i guess noone heard which games they will be wearing them?

The Rangers will be wearing the 70's Retro Jersey twice at home. January 20th vs. Boston and February 2nd vs. Vancouver. The NHL has 6 teams (NYR, BOS, VAN, LAK, MON and DET i think) wearing these Retro Jerseys only when they play against each other. The Habs worn their Vintage Whites the other night.
