Not that what I think makes any difference but this is a hockey forum and this is Edmonton.

Chill man, biggest championship drought in sports ended last night

Was an exceptionally good game no question. Cubs rule now it's about time.

Never cared about the Jays.

I think it's only fitting that the Chicago Cubs win the very last World Series that will ever be played.

This Jays thread has been one of the most popular threads on this forum over the last year and a half. There are many baseball fans here.

Last week I was making a joke to friends about how the series would go to 7 games and then would go to extra innings and it would just go on forever until the MLB just declared it a tie and there would be no World Series winner this year.

So it was funny to see it actually go to 7 and then go into extra innings.

If the rumors sprouting around over the last couple months are true, id love to see Joey Votto join the BJ's. He would be a great option if (when) EE leaves.

Spend some money that you will save on Joey Bats for a Middle Relief?

Not many (if any) ace's in FA this year that I can see...

As much as I would love to see it I can't see the Reds trading Votto.

Some of Buatista's money should go to trying to keep Edwin.

The last thing the Jays need to spend money on is starting ptiching.

My biggest fear is that the Jays will just pocket the money that Bautista/Encarnacion/Dickey were making, and sign Justin Morneau and Jeff Francoeur as their replacements.

Honestly, Morneau as depth would be fine, imo. I don't see them doing that, only because all those sell outs has to be doing something positive for the bottom line.

Add to that their pitching staff is relatively cheap and very good. The Jays are in an excellent spot to add and spend to try to get to that "next level"

All that said, I understand your concern completely.

Public transportation swamped today as everyone tries to get downtown for the Cubs parade. I wonder if they will get 3+ million along the parade route and for the rally in Grant Park. Probably helps that it is sunny day without a cloud in the sky and Chicago schools are closed (for an unrelated reason).

108 years of waiting so people are excited obviously. I have learned that this is personal to a lot of families in the area. The drought extended numerous generations and they stuck through it and kept filling up Wrigley Field.

Nonetheless, I imagine it is easy to tune it out Edmonton, but here it encompasses the coverage the past couple of days.

I assume a few other people are, but there's just some much "heft" to this curse, this situation, plus they weren't WS champs for over 100 years, that's epic no matter how you slice it.

It would be like the Rangers have their last cup in 1910 and then winning. It would just be such a sight to see it would be hard to not over state it.

Interesting little stat; Munenori Kawasaki is now one of the few players who have won a World Series, World Baseball Classic and Japan Series championship.
