Good luck tonight guys. I've been very impressed with Detroit this season. I thought they would be slightly better than the Preds and it has panned out that way so far. Every time the Preds get close, the Wings step on the gas. They play smart, within themselves, and don't take stupid penalties.
If the Preds play with speed and avoid stupid penalties, they'll do fine tonight. But lately, especially after Vokoun's injury, the Preds have let good teams play their game instead of imposing their will as they did earlier on.
The stat that stands out to me with the Wings is that they don't take many penalties and they don't receive many power plays. They've seen 70 less PP opportunities than Atlanta, the highest scoring PP in the league. Despite this, they have 1 less goal. Ouch!
It's an interesting matchup because I think Nashville can give Detroit fits with their speed but that Detroit can give Nashville fits with their puck possession. Throw in the fact that this game will likely be won by one of the two stellar special teams units and you've got yourself a game.
If Nashville acquits themselves well, this is the type of game that should be televised.
I say both goalies stand on their heads and the Preds win 0-0.
Impossible seeing as the Preds will start the game with a 1-0 lead.
It's definately a game that could go either way, just depends on which Wings team shows up, considering the Wings will down off the bat, it'll really test the team to see if they can pull it together against a Preds team that needs these 2 points as badly as the Wings.
The Wings are moving their legs a lot but don't seem to be going anywhere. They're getting chances, but aren't burying them while Nashville just seems to be playing with a quiet confidence tonight. We'll see what happens in the second.
