Big fat yes to signing him, but I'd be extremely careful of going beyond 3-4 years. If that isn't an option, then they'd have to ensure he doesn't get a NMC or NTC and that they are also getting a lower cap hit.

If he really wants a long deal to secure himself and his family , I would give him

40 M for 7 years for a 5.7 M cap average , front loaded ofcourse ...

Don't even bother commenting on this subject while coming up with numbers under 6,5M per year.

At this point I'd give him 4 X 7M without thinking about it too much if he accepts. That's what I feel the market for him is. And if you don't get there you can bet another team will. If he stays healthy and gets north of 20 goals and 70 points, you can bet your ass 7M$ is the minimum he'll even consider.

Why not? He's still going to be good in 5 years. Radulov is a exceptional talent and I doubt he will fade away during that timeframe. He's a great leader and always gives his 100%, we need more quality players like him. He's also a good mentor for our younger players and has a fantastic work ethic.

I'm not too worried giving him a contract over 4 years. A true heart and soul player!

He's been great, no question. I'm enjoying watching him and AG, trust me. I could live with the risk of his game falling off in 5 years if the Habs' get the benefit of say a 5m cap hit over the length of the contract. 6 years at 5m per that's front loaded would be livable.

I think 3 years at 6m - 7m per year would also be more than fair to both sides, but I'm also realistic that MB may have not the luxury of dictating terms.

He's played 20 games and some of you want to sign him for 6 or 7 years and for up to 7 million per. Thats insane, almost insane as free agent day where most of the signings end up as busts. Most i would go is 4x6.5.

He has played 20 games with Montreal... he played a lot more games in his career and succeed everywhere... I'd give him what he wants... no way I would lose him low balling him... that would be insane.

This.... It's not like he's an unproven prospect or a reclamation project (e.g. Semin). The only question coming to MTL was the attitude/off-ice problems. Right now, he is the core of the leadership core, even though he doesn't have a letter. He was a C on his old team and produced for years without any help. He produced in his last stint in the NHL and produced in the Q. Why anybody would doubt he is worth the long-term investment at this point is beyond me.

under 6M$, even for just 1 season, and MB would be a magician...

barring an epic meltdown or some serious flame out character-wise, Radulov is well on his way to securing a multi-year NHL deal in the 6-7M$ range....

given the lack of near-NHL ready top-line wing talent in the organization, habs pretty much need to re-sign him, and i'm sure his agent is well aware of that.

4 year @ 6.5M$/per would be a very ideal contract for the team, though i suspect he'll want either more $ or more term.

Completely agree with this, although I will say if MB manages [email protected] I'll be amazed and beyond excited with that. These types of players are extremely rare and obviously even more rarely available as UFAs. If he hits the open market then the sky is the limit.

If Milan Lucic can get 7 @ 6 and even Andrew Ladd can get 7 @ 5.5 you can bet Radulov will get more than that.

I think with Price and Galchenyuk needing new contracts soon, some players will need to make little sacrifices to keep the core intact...
That could only happen in low tax states like Florida.

This issue is really overblown. First, these guys have very creative accountants. And secondly, taxation is based on where the games are played in many cases, which buffers a lot of the difference.

But yeah, I agree that some will need to take a small pay cut in order to keep our core intact.

So you're saying they only get charged Quebec tax 41 times? And then the tax policy of other states/provinces the other 41 times? Interesting

And to think that plan A was to sign Lucic...

Seriously, MB might look like a genius, but he just got lucky on that one. Without Radulov, our offense is crap.
