Seriously, MB might look like a genius, but he just got lucky on that one. Without Radulov, our offense is crap.
Bergevin is no genius. Going at radulov was a no brainer tbh

I doubt that. If your employer is based in Quebec you pay income tax in Quebec.

But yeah there are tricks and the taxes on habs players are peanuts in percentage.

Government here is not going to object to tax breaks for Habs players.

Brand. Tourism and revenues from the Molson empire dwarf tax income from 23 guys.

Still. The NHL should also have a variable cap based on income tax in the employers place of registration.

The fact that they don't tells me that players are not being killed by taxes anywhere.

Honestly, i cant imagine, that Radulov isnt having the greatest of times being a Hab at the moment, and fully loving his decision he made in the summer, paying off for both sides, i mean even 5.75 isnt chump change

i just cant imagine he absolutely doesnt want to resign in montreal and nowhere else.. what with his family now and the way montreal embraces russian players in general

i mean, it was a 1 year deal, but im sure bergevin at some point told him, listen... this is how it is, blah blah blah, red tape red tape, but listen, if all goes well,..i WILL give you a long term deal ...lets just...SEE how this goes..your first year back in the NHL...

i absolutely cant imagine he doesnt give him a 4 year deal minimum

Vegas will have so much free cap space that they could offer him a ridiculous contract... that he just couldn't refuse.

Bergevin has to sign him as soon as possible and protect him .

The guy is a legitimate game-breaking, all-world offensive talent. It's hard to land a player like this via free agency... extra hard to do so in Montreal.

Bergevin would be foolish not to look hard at a long-term extension, especially with Pleckanec's and Markov's money coming off the books in the next year or two.

Plan A was still to offer even more money to Lucic. I don't even remember who was plan B. And Radulov was plan C. Clearly he wanted to come over here.

No one is complaining about the outcome. Just saying that Bergevin got lucky on that one. Like Gainey when his trade for Lecavalier bombed.

It happens and it's not criticizing the GM to point it out. Merely making a factual statement.

Are you serious? Do you think a guy with 5 or 6 good years left will want to spend them being a bottom dweller in an expansion market (Vegas of all places). I just don't see Radulov going for that at all. He loves being in a place that eats and breathes hockey. No way he would go to Vegas just for a paycheck.

I think it's a very solid signing for Edmonton. He's perfect for McJesus... but for the habs, he would have been a disaster... happy he turned us down. Instead, we got a game changer.

Before the season started, I told people Radulov had Tarasenko type habilities to impact a game... guess I wasn't too far from the truth.

Helping to develop Galchenyuk, hopefully he can be retained to help develop any other future top 6ers.

I guess you didn't follow free agency very closely. Montreal and Edmonton were the final choices for Lucic. I'm pretty sure he acknowledged that himself. It was also reported that MB offered him more money than the Oilers did.

Didn't Radulov talked about having a very good conversation with Bergevin before choosing Montreal? How it impacted his decision?

Holy ****.

Bergevin can't do nothing good.

When he sign Radulov, it's Radulov who choosed Montreal.

When he acquired Vanek, it meant nothing because Vanek didn't re-signed. (Turned out to be the ****ing right decision to not offer him a contract).

--But watch out when he trade Devante Fried-Chicken---

Bergevin still riding on his predecessor draft picks and bla bla.

Sadly for some folks on HFBoards, Bergevin is the great architect of this ****ing 16-4-2 team, who's actually the top-1 in the NHL.

Radulov to Montréal was confirmed by a few sources before the official opening of the market at noon. Lucic only signed with Edmonton a few minutes into the PM. Montréal was indeed in the run, but it wasnt at the expense of Radulov. Bergevin tried to sign both.

How would the team have been able to fit both with the cap?

I highly recommend watching this 6 min video about Radulov road back to the NHL. He's a true Habs and he really care about this city and it's fans. I hope we keep him until he retires.

And what if Lucic accepts Bergevin's offer before we sign Radulov?? Can't get both.

It was confirmed by no one with any reputation for veracity, as far as I know. There were some rumours of negotiations with Radulov throughout the day. That's my recollection.

Great tribute video. I was a bit sceptical about his return, but man is he fun to watch. I hope we lock him up for a long time. He's a great player and loves to play hockey.
