Quote:
With his team on pace for the worst regular season in franchise history, Matt Duchene is dealing with his own personal ignominy.

“This is probably the worst (slump) I’ve ever been through,” Duchene told the Denver Post on Monday, after his pointless streak hit 11 games. “It’s been pretty crazy just in terms of how bad it’s gone.

“Sometimes you can’t really read too much into it and just realize it’s part of the game.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of offers Sakic gets for Duchene and Landeskog.

He signed someplace where he's the #3RD even if he's 7-8 on the depth chart.

Ruh doesn't beat out any of Risto/Bogo/Franson and we don't play defensemen on their off hand. The opportunity cost of Bylsma's player usage strikes again.

Its not for lack of effort. Last night against Arizona, the Avs were shooting from everywhere. Duchene hit at least one post. They swarmed Mike Smith in the final seconds but McKinnon just couldn;t lift the puck over Smith;s pads for the tying goal. Not making excuses 'cause the team is not very good but the Avs can't buy a goal.

Interest in Duchene will be strong because anyone reviewing game stats and video will see that he's giving all the effort in the world. Move him and he'll break out of his slump and everyone will wonder why the Avs let him go.....

Patrik Laine should 100% take the Calder over Matthews at this point, Matthews is great but it seems like his play has tailed off.

Leafs respond quite well to Boatgate.ca ... I'm dangling that in front of them the rest of the stretch if I'm Babcock

No disrespect to Marchand, but when he is leading the league and goals and points your league needs fixed.

Why? McJesus is still technically #1 since he has one less game played. Crosby would be #1 if he hadn't missed time. Marchand's having an excellent year, and the fact that there are a bunch of guys over 1PPG is encouraging as that hasn't been a thing in a while now.

NHL Public Relations‏ @PR_NHL - The @BlueJacketsNHL clinched a berth in the 2017 #StanleyCup Playoffs, their third postseason appearance in franchise history (2009, 2014).

I know HF loves to bash Toews, but he's been dominant for awhile now. He's on fire right now.

a small but vocal group has been pushing him as the best player int he league for like 5 years now, the large and vocal group that was sick of listening to these people have been enjoying the push back since his production dipped

people don't love to bash Toews, they love to bash the people that said he was better than Crosby

Shower Thought:

Zadorov and Grigerenko have been part of the 2014-15 Sabres and the 2016-17 Avalanche...two of the worst teams in recent NHL history.

Ekblad is back in the line up for the Cats. I don't know why they don't just shut him down for the Season and make sure he does not become the next Lindros.
