He said on the radio today that he feels much better than last week. For what it's worth

I think if PK doesn't play vs the Habs Jan 3 it would mean this is long-term.

Any news from Poile's meeting with PK and the doctors?

Why? He could be there but just hasn't gotten the go ahead from the team physicians. I get that this is one of the two games he wouldn't want to miss, but sometimes one or two extra days is needed.

He is trying to make it through the rest of 2016 alive.

An Update from this morning.

Quote:
During an appearance on 102.5-FM on Thursday morning, Predators general manager David Poile updated the status of defenseman P.K. Subban........

"The update, unfortunately, is minimal," Poile said. "We had hoped and thought with the injury that P.K. might be close to playing and we thought he might be on the ice (Wednesday), but that didn't happen. We're still on a day-to-day situation. ... Where I sit today, I'm hoping that P.K. in the next couple of days will be in a position where he'll want to be getting on the ice.

I don't want to read too much into this but doesn't it sound like Poile is saying the decision to return is on PK and not the doctors?

Today's response sounded like that. That first post though was posted before Poile said that.

Poile did say this from that article:

Puts it on PK not the physicians.

We'all see what happens come the habs game and/or 2bit or salo need to come off IR.

This piece isn't happening for a bit, especially Salomaki. Poile said on the radio a few weeks ago that Salomaki had a long term lower body injury. Bitetto broke his hand Nov. 29 in Colorado.

2bit skated in the optional practice today.

Yes I know I didn't mean to suggest otherwise.

AFAIK like you posted it's usually the team doctors who decide when an injured player returns. So now this PK situation has another layer of mystique to it.

Anyway we'll see...

I realize that, but if I remember correctly, he skated for a week or two before re-joining the last time. The question is was he wearing a no contact jersey?

No idea. I'm not sure how optional practices go but I imagine it being a glorified stick and puck play unless you get over half the team to practice drills.

Probably. I think the point of him out there though is to be skating around to make sure he doesn't lose his legs.

We miss Miikka more than shows in the scoresheet. He was the sparkplug last year and has many of the qualities that has made Arvy a fan favorite. We need players that the opponent hates to see on the ice and battle against, and Miikka is one of the few we have. Hopefully he's back soon.

Sounds odd to me. Maybe Poile didn't intend it to sound this way, but "want" to be getting on the ice?

To me, reading that Poile is hinting Subban is soft and/or soft.

Like others say, he didn't say when the doctors cleared him, but when PK wanted to.

It is odd, but it was also odd last season when he got hurt. The same type of comment came from Habs management.

I think PK is a smart enough young man that he won't rush himself back from injury unless he feels like he won't re-injure himself. There is a bright career waiting for him after hockey.

I would like to see Granberg back in Milwaukee. The Ads really have only 4 defensemen. Our third pairing should be in Cincinnati! The December record is 6-6-0-1 for .500 on a .667 team.

Maz in net isn't going to have the success Saros did.
