96 Points Is The Magic Number

According to this article, anyway:

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=57788

So 46 more points is the thing. 23W and 9L is one combo.

A more practical scenario would involve a large combination of wins, which earn two points, and overtime or shootout losses, which net one. No matter what that combination is, Phoenix can afford no more than nine regulation losses if it is to hit 96 points.

Daunting, but doable, considering some of the upcoming opponents.

However, to take over that spot, Phoenix will have to find a way to pass four teams: Minnesota, San Jose, Anaheim and Edmonton.

But the Coyotes have fared well against those clubs, going 8-5-0 (7-1-0 if you remove Anaheim) this season, and still have several opportunities to make up ground on them. They play 11 more times.

Talk about an uphill battle. I think impossible is a better description as opposed to daunting

I have a bet with someone on HF about the playoff point total. My bet is 94 or higher.

Let's hope they are right with 96

You are probably right, but I'm not a big fan of the word "impossible". In actuality, uphill battle and impossible are contradictary thoughts...from my perch, anyhow.
