"Flu" is used as kind of an all purpose designation for an upper respiratory infection. It's amazing how often you hear it, during the course of a season, when talking about sick hockey players.

So, though I am only speculating with no insight or inside information, I doubt that McD has the "real" flu; the one you get be immunized for. I also think, again without any knowledge, that all players are immunized against the flu as a matter of course by team doctors.

Plus, the real flu season is just beginning.

So, he just might be down with some type of respiratory illness, hopefully one that he can recover from quickly. I doubt it's the real flu.

Most important thing about the flu (and other communicable illnesses) is making sure it doesn't spread. Remember the Blues a couple years back? Get McD the hell away.

I got the flu shot in October. I still wound up getting a cold that knocked me out pretty good the past 6 days. A bad cold could still land someone in bed for a couple of days.

The default response in today's secretive NHL.

I hope we get Nash back tonight. It would certainly help. We NEED these two points tonight.

Based on this, it sounds like Nash is back tonight. I'm taking him off the injured list:

Good day for injury recoveries. Nash is back from groin. McD is back from Flu. Skjei will play after dental work. Puempel is scratched, but is off IR and ready to go when they need him.

So I saw Z was doing some type of ice/bench activity in a picture. Was that for real? Expecting an early January come back still?

Also have not seen anything on Buch

Flu also refers to various stomach bugs that players are susceptible too with all the travel they do. Probably pretty hard to play with the runs...

He was just goofing around, his leg is still in a cast with what looked like an aluminum boot.

Buch was downgraded to indefinite? That's not good at all.

I don't know why so many are worrying. He clearly did not have enough upper body strength to battle the likes of Big Buff night in and night out. The big hits and physical corner battles he did not see much in the KHL. He is working out off ice and will probably be back before January. They are not going to rush him. He skated about a week ago or a little more was the last we heard and has watched in a track suit but for now it is all about building up the core and upper body so he can withstand the hits so this doesn't re-occur.

Indefinite does sound bad and long-term...but technically it only means "we're unsure". Could be next week...could be next month. The team has been so tight-lipped about his progress that we simply can't pinpoint a date of return. The only thing we know for sure is that he has yet to skate. The one time it was announced that he was skating was a mistake. It was actually Puempel skating that particular day, but a reporter got confused and said Buch had been skating. Buch has yet to skate.
