Its been 12 days since they've commented on Buchnevich for what we were told is a short term recovery.

This is either journalistic incompetence or the Rangers are hiding something.
Steve Zipay reported on twitter that Lundqvist was starting a little after 2:30pm.

Way too many holes.

1. The idea that a pro athlete needs a few weeks to "strengthen their core" is not only something I've literally never heard of before.

2. But also the idea that the Rangers let the crown jewel of their prospect pool come into this season physically unprepared, after hovering over him the last three summers of him training in NJ under a Rangers prepared regiment just reads like absolute nonsense to me. Nobody can seriously believe the Rangers of all organizations would let this slip by.

3. This went from mild injury, to 2-3 weeks, to coming on 6 weeks with him not even skating.

4. I don't recall him ever having back problems like this and he's played pro hockey since he was 17.

Something's wrong here.

That protruding disk must be worse than they thought, I have no idea about back injuries so it's anybody's guess what that means for him

The only thing I can think of is team doctors are doing everything to avoid future back surgery.

this whole thing is odd

the secretiveness of the whole thing is whats most odd.

no idea what could be going on here but my gut tells me its the back and something else perhaps.

This is the feeling I get. And they haven't said any thing because they don't know whats going to work yet.

Something's very wrong. And i'm not liking it. Not a single update? This is getting ridiculous now.

He's been skating so hard that I guess this doesn't surprise me. This is what he gets for skating like a raging bull. This sucks.

Probably likely that he wasn't 100% when he returned. Overcompensated by changing something in his mechanics, injured himself again.

Pure conjecture ^^^^^

I would tend to agree with you. I also remember Amanda Borges speaking with him before his return to the lineup and she asked him how he was feeling and instead of saying he felt great or 100% or anything he used to term "good enough to play" which could imply he wasn't 100% but felt he was good to go.

I could definitely see him overcompensating slightly in his mechanics to deal with the injured groin, leading to a pull on the other side. That is something that does happen with injuries.

It really sucks because he's looked so good and has been a real catalyst this season. Hopefully after the Christmas break he will be good to go, hopefully it's not a long term thing.

Brooks said "Unknown". My guess is that they just haven't received a timeline from the team yet. I'm hoping it's nothing more than 2 to 3 weeks.

......Ah the NY Rangers and Rick Nash!! The most snakebit franchise in the NHL!! As much as I wanted Nash moved over the summer, I realize he's an excellent hockey player who works his ass off........but who needs a guy that gets hurt whenever he starts playing well (literally twice a year) and doesn't produce in the playoffs? Now there goes any trade value he had to boot!

As far as I'm concerned this season is on hold until we get a timeline.

Gutted, day is ruined. Knew he was hurt.
