I will make a case for you locals driving to Donelson for McNamara's. I have never found fish and chips I like better and the other items I've sampled are very good. Corned beef is excellent. Those of you from out of town would like it, too.
Any good Japanese or Taiwanese restaurants? Also how is the hot chicken (Big chicken fan haha)?

I will ask them about the Japanese/Taiwanese restaurants. The person who'd really know is in Japan right now. My son teaches there but when he was living here in Nashville he would hit all the ethnic restaurants, from the major spots to holes in the wall. I'll send him a note on messenger, too. Obviously I don't have a clue.

The one time I've eaten the hot chicken it was very good. It was a replica type though. We're getting one near my work so I'll try something authentic when I don't have to worry about where I'm going to have to park. Some people fear flying, I fear finding a parking space.

On a side note, I don't get the "Hot Chicken" craze. To me it is nothing but punishment to your body from start to finish.

From one of my sources: There's Lucky Bamboo China Bistro for dim sum and Chinatown for chinese food. No Taiwanese restaurants that I know of. Not very familiar with the Japanese restaurants since I've been back. There are some good Vietnamese (Kien Giang, VN Pho) and Korean (Hai Woon Dai) restaurants if that's an option. There's also decent Ethiopian here too. Most of these restaurants are inconveniently located from downtown :slightly_smiling_face:

[11:18]
Two Ten Jack if ramen and sushi are desired.

Let me know if you want additional information on the Vietnamese or Korean restaurants. My guess is you could start at Nolensville Rd. and I440, go south and find all sorts of interesting spots, though if Steve (my source above) hasn't found a Taiwanese restaurant there may not be any. He went to Taiwan around Christmas with his family (mom is Thai and Taiwanese) so he "knows" what it should taste like.

I don't get the absurdly hot stuff no matter what the food is. Hot chicken can be good as long as you don't take it to the unnecessary.

Sunday night I went by the Parthenon. I forgot how really beautiful it is, especially at night!

I've driven past it a lot, but I haven't been to really look at it for along time. When it gets warmer in the spring I'm going to make time to go back and go in to see the Athena statue.

thanks for all the suggestions, just got back from my trip. Absolute blast, had no idea the preds were such die hard fans down there, the stadium was much louder than the pens and bruins rinks. Even with it having a lot of blackhawk fans there. Looking forward to my return trip next year!

Finally got to talk to my son about this. He says that Sono Bana has a pretty wide variety so you might find something there. He also said that Lucky Bamboo on Charlotte Pike has good "authentic Chinese" food. He looked up some info online and said the Green Hills China Town had a recommendation for the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and that it was supposedly the place where the reviewer went for Taiwanese comfort food and was quite satisfied but he hadn't personally eaten there.

Sharks fan here, Going to the game with my girlfriend next week for my birthday. We're staying at the Hilton across the street from the arena and was wondering if visiting teams frequent that hotel as well? Would be cool to get an autograph or two if that's case. Good luck to your Preds the rest of the year.

Not sure. At one point they stayed at the Renaissance and rode a bus to the arena but that was years ago.

In any event, they get out somewhere around the arena so you can probably get an autograph then. Used to get to the arena around 4 but again, years ago.

Yes, visiting teams stay there a lot. It's just a walk across the street to the arena for them as they trickle out a few at a time.

You'll know for sure if you see a group of autograph seekers hanging out on the sidewalk.

I know they used to stay at the Renaissance. I remember in the playoffs (2006 or 07) sometimes I would pass some players walking down to Broadway after games as I was going to the garage. I want to say a few years ago someone from the sharks posted something on twitter from the Omni (I'm almost positive it was the sharks).

If you see a bus outside one of the hotels around 4pm, that's probably them. Teams usually leave for the arena between 4:30-5pm.

There is a door on the side of the arena I think players go in as well. It's on the side visible to the Hilton, I think it's the red door. Usually people are out there waiting as well, especially after the game.

I do know that your TV announcers are documented lovers of going to Tootsies (and most of Broadway). Whenever they talk about going to places on the road, Tootsies and Broadway is their #1 answer!

When the Sharks were here during last regular season they stayed at the Hilton. They stayed at the Sheraton in the playoffs. Just look for the group of eBay people and try to stay outta their way. They'll push you out of the way if they think they won't get their stuff signed.

Some friends and I are visiting on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Anyone have some recommendations for places where we can drink lots of alcohol?

Lower Broadway. Hopefully we'll still be in the playoffs so you can see a bunch of Preds fans there too. (The arena is in the middle of the honky tonk bars)

Like Drake said, Lower Broadway for four blocks of bars, other tourists, and it's right next to the arena. Midtown for college bars.

Hey can you tell me between which streets these bars are? I'm coming visiting on Thursday and am looking forward to having a lot of drinks. Are the bars around the arena during playoff time crazy? Looking forward to a crazy atmosphere even though they are away when ill be visiting. Any info would be appreciated

Broadway between 1st and 5th Avenues. The arena is at 5th and Broad. 2nd Avenue north of Broadway also has a lot of bars and there are good scattered places you may find in that area not on Broad or 2nd. Because they're on the road I wouldn't expect a lot of Preds fans downtown as most locals go drink in other areas of town but there will be people everywhere. The main sports bars on Broadway are Bailey's and Broadway Brewhouse. If you don't care how generic the place is that you're at and simply want to watch a game real quick before going somewhere else, there's a Hooters on 2nd Ave. To be fair, theyre good at accomodating sports on TV, and hockey is always on. You can watch hockey in all of those places despite the throng of tourists.

A new place opened up at third and...Demonbreun, I think--look for Pinnacle Garage--it's across from its south wall It's called The Diner and is a 6 story restaurant open 24 hours. Different restaurants on different levels. I went to the sports bar on the second floor weekend before last and it was a bit pricey but pretty good.

That place as a whole is way over the top pricewise.

I should note in case people do not already know, "The Diner" is owned by the same people that own Tootsies/Rippy's/Honky Tonk Central.
