He was drafted as a Canadian Junior in 2002, so the Blues have until June of this year to sign him before losing his rights.
Man... just looking at the draft that year I had forgotten that he was a 2nd round pick. What a horrible pick... probably the worst pick in the Pleau era. Well, Maxim Linnik might have something to say about that.
I noticed that Andrei Mikhnov's profile is missing from the Blues page, unless I just didn't notice him. He was drafted in the second or third round in 2002 I believe. He is the younger brother of Edmonton first rounder Alexei Mikhnov and played in the juniors for a couple of seasons. He went back to Russia and I saw him this year in the Super League for Lada and he looked good - good size, improved skating, aggressive, decent speed...though shot and puckhandling need more work. Just wanted to see if anyone can add him to the list.
I'm going to check and see if he still fits in the Blues' plans. I was under the impression that the Blues had given up on him (I'm 99.95% sure we gave up on Troliga), but I'll get a definitive answer soon.
