Proposal: Pens / Habs

Would you guys consider trading Alexei Kovalev for Sergei Gonchar?

They've both been disappointing, thus far. We can also add to the deal by throwing in Malone, but you'd have to add someone.... Souray?

Who the hell said Kovalev has been disappointing?

He was great until his knee injury, and then played pretty well after the injury until his new year's eve argument with Julien.

One bad month of Kovalev does not equal us taking on that stupid Yashin like Gonchar contract.

lol!
yes, kovalev has some what underachieved this season...but it's no where close to abysmal season that gonchar has had.

if we wanted an offensive d-man, we could have taken dick tarnstrom for table scraps.

I think Gonchar can be attained for a late draft pick at this point in time.
Lock this pointless thread.

No. IMO, the offense is our biggest problem (an average of 21 shots/game since BG is the coach ) and trading kovalev for a dman would not help to resolve our problem. Also, Gonchar is overpaid and has never been the same player since the AO hit. He also has the reputation of not working very hard (and that's true!) and finally, he is a liability on defence.

Kovalev is way more valuable to the habs than Gonchar would be.

My favourite trade proposal concerning Montréal and Pittsburgh was to trade the Olympic Stadium for Sidney Crosby. Then, the Kovalev-Gonchar both proposal don't make sense, but at least the other was a bit funny.

I would have never imagined Kovy being so admired & overrated by ignorant "Reptiles."
Nobody overrated Kovalev. All anyone in this thread has done is slam Gonchar, because well, Gonchar blows. Why would the habs want to trade Kovalev at 4.5 million for the much worse Gonchar at 5 million, and Gonchar is signed longer?

I don't see how this is hard for you to believe. You clearly like Kovalev better than Gonchar too, otherwise why would you be proposing the trade?

The guy just asked a question.

If it's that insulting to you guys, then just close the thread.
There's no need to flame him. He ASKED, he didn't say that it will happen.

I'd love to *have* Kovalev back on the Pens, but Gainey is not an idiot, and Patrick is. When's the last time the Pens actually won a trade?

Good luck.

The question certainly is not insulting... the "ignorant reptiles" part is... He may be your friend... but he's wrong when he made this a pissing match about ethnicity on our Montreal boards...

BTW, I agree with the consensus... Kovy has been decent while being here (not disappointing) and him for gonchar does not elevate the habs as much as keeping kovy would do.
