Nice gesture by Pacioretty helping the guy who was stuck. Here's the article...

Always good to hear when someone in the team does a good gesture...too bad positive news is not talked about more around here.

It's a very nice gesture on his part, but what if he actually injured himself? Would it still be a nice story?

With Crosby at 40 goals in less games, I think he has the upper hand to get the rocket trophy. Maybe Marchand but he is still three goals behind.

Max is out of that race unless a miracle occurs.

No denying that he is a great regular season scorer... Just keep fingers crossed that he's ready to raise his compete level come PO's, vs shrinking as he has historically.

Does anyone else think Pacioretty should play his off-wing?

Goalies have seemed to have figured out his 'wrister' off the rush. Playing on the right side would give him a lot more to shoot at and much better angles.

When was the last time you saw Pacioretty having a good opportunity to use his wrister? Seems like the puck is never getting to him in a good shooting position, to be honest...

What I think is that he needs to stop playing the point on the PP. I don't get the obsession with trying him there with Weber when you have an elite passer in Markov.

He's been so bad these past 10 or so games. It's incredible just how useless he can be on the ice when he's on a cold streak. The amount of lazy and brainless plays I saw from him tonight was infuriating.

Is he hiding an injury again? He's been invisible for the whole month of March and has 2 goals (4 points) in the past 10 games.

That's just how goal scorers are, it's almost a common occurrence. I can't think of many goal scorers that aren't streaky.

Most of the top goalscorers aren't as useless as he is when they're not scoring though.

Yeah he has been bad, but there are bigger problems than Pacioretty.

Maybe most of the top goal scorers are better than him?

Crosby, Marchand, Tarasenko, Kucherov, Malkin are ahead of him.
Atkinson, Matthews, Laine are tied with him.
Kane, Rakell, Carter and Pastrnak are immediately trailing him.

Those are some really high quality players to compete with...

These guys can control the play much better than Pacioretty with the puck. Pacioretty handling the puck for more than 3 seconds is an upcoming fail pass/play.

He was never really known for controlling the play...have you guys just forgotten the last 5 years of his career or something?

I'd have expected these complaints early on in his career, but now? We're paying him for his goal scoring ability and his good defensive skills. He won't magically learn to control the play, that's not really his role either...maybe MB should trade for a center that can do that or maybe Radulov should do that when he plays with Pacioretty because Rad is actually good at that.

Hum.. the other poster said other goal scorers are not as useless as Pacioretty when they are not scoring. That's why I was bringing the argument that at least those players can also control the play pretty well, something Pacioretty can't so it makes them more useful than Pacioretty if they goes in a scoring drought.

And like I said...that's because most of the top goal scorers are better than Pacioretty. That's the reason.

Maybe the reason people are always disappointed with Pacioretty is because they view him as an elite player as a whole, when all he is is just an elite goal scorer who is good defensively.

I feel like we're having the same discussion every time he's not scoring goals...

He's not losing his heart when he's not scoring.
