He could just make the Jackets in a sheltered role (a la Gagner) until he's ready for heavier minutes?

That's what I'm saying. If the eligibility rule wasn't in place I am sure he'd go to Cleveland over any junior team, and over Columbus. But since he's not, he's probably better suited for the NHL than juniors.

I know its not the topic but i would like to know how abramov did during his AHL games? I know he got some points but on performance and especially if he was being pushed off the puck easily or out-muscled? Thanks guys

I would go the other way. I'd rather a guy play 18 minutes a game against inferior competition than 10 minutes a night against NHL players.
Now if he comes out and earns a legit role (anything above the 4th line) I'm fine with him being in Columbus. But if it's a "niche" or 4th line role I'm would rather he play minutes.

For most guys I agree. For PLD, I think he is much better off being in the NHL next year. Both for the style he plays and for the way he has played this year. I just don't know how much he will develop going back to the QMJHL again.

Agree with this. Seems like his heart wasn't it at all.

Sounds like Jarmo is off to watch him play 2 playoff games in Quebec.

I said at the time and still think he was a great pick for the Jackets. His game will remind people of Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn's game.

3 assists so far through 2 periods for Dubois, looks like he didn't wanna let your GM down

I also agree with what you said about Jamie Benn being the closest comparable player to Dubois, and I hope he hits his that potential, he's a great kid!

Balinville-Boisbriand narrowly thwarts a comeback by Charlottetown, and goes up 2-1 in the series.

Not an ideal season for Dubois but if he keeps having a solid playoffs in which he is top 5 in scoring now and maybe even help get the Armada to the Mem Cup (will be tough I know) it would go a long way in helping to salvage his season.

breakdown of PLDs season. I haven't been able to watch him much outside the WJC but everything points to him being back to his form last season.

Just a quick look at his stats and I really don't see any reason to panic. He's actually been on a seemingly upward trend since the trade.

In CB he had 18 pts in 20 games, .9p/G, +4, 3 PPG and 1 gwg

Since joining the armada he's played 28 games and has 37 pts, 1.32p/G, +13, 5 ppg and 4 gwg.

For a total of 48 games 21 goals and 34 assists for 55 pts, 1.14p/G, +17, 8 ppg and 5 gwg.

But the big Stat that stands out most to me are his shots compared to last season and his shooting percentage. Last season he had 236 shots on net at 17% sh%. This season in 20 games in CB he took 68 shots at 8.8%... For the rest of the season after the trade he took 98 shots at 15.3%. He's doubled his point total after the trade(albeit in 8 more games)

My take is like others have said, he was obviously disappointed with not making the jackets this season. But ever since the trade and the WJC he's been back to his play of last season. And from what it seems his faceoffs have only improved.

Not to mention in one more game played he has 7 more points than last year in the playoffs.. 19 pts in 13 games. He also has 20 less games played this season because of the WJC. So take thst into account. And his current play in the playoffs is pretty much on par with his scoring rate of regular season last season. 1.46 p/G compared to 1.52 p/G last season.

Sounds like he is on track. Hopefully his addition and development will help us to compete against the old guard (Crosby, Ovechkin, Kane) and new guard (McDavid, Matthews) of generational players that are ruling the league. Really stark difference in the playoffs between our talent level and the talent level of the teams with superstars, we need offensive help to recover when Bob isn't at an all world level.

Agreed Alpha & I would add we need offensive help regardless of who we are playing - our guys are essentially good grinders.. but Foligno, Jenner, Anderson and Hartzy can play more in front of the net potting rebounds when the offensive guys get the puck on net.. no rebounds can be be counted on off the glass / boards. Get some speed/ get some snipers and we will give the Pens/Caps a run for their money

Still early and a guy he's tied with a player who is on the other team but that point ties him for 2nd in Q playoff scoring

Been a beast tonight.

Beautiful breakaway goal using his speed-power.

Just missed another 1.

His puck protection been amazing against Nhl draft picks Brisebois and Meloche.

Reallly impressive stuff in the playoff.

Good to hear. At his size it should be a man amongst boys. Meloche is a pretty big boy actually but Dubois still has a bit of weight on him and a year younger. Nice to hear hes engaged and playing like the boxscore suggests

Yup, he was amazing yesterday too. Great forechecker too.

5 vs 5 Hiis line has dominated Sprong....

Him plus Barre Boulet are great together. And BLB is a defensive squad...kind of 1-3-1 ala Guy Boucher
