Forsberg, Olympics, time for some Celtic Pride style hooliganism

I suggested to my cousin that it MIGHT be a good idea if somebody MAYBE shanked Peter in the calf...nothing serious, but enough to put him down for a couple of weeks. Any other suggestions for short-term injuries with no serious long-term downside? Maybe somebody would be interested in kidnapping? I don't know, I don't know, maybe I'm just thinking out loud...but if some Flyers fans really wanted to secure the Stanley Cup this year...I don't know, I don't know...

Maybe Forsberg won't have any choice to take the olympics off ...

according to the hockey news :

Peter Forsberg's groin injury could be worse than originally feared. It was thought that his nagging groin problem simply needed rest but now the superstar center is seeing a specialist in North Carolina to have an MRI reviewed. This would suggest the possibility of a tear and a lengthier stay on the IR. Then again, it could be nothing more than strain. Either way, don't expect the Swede in action this week.

when you get a groin strain 3 times in less then a month I think its a good idea to go see a specialist. He wants to find out whats going on. nothing more.

Nothing more?

The guy has a groin "strain" 3 times in less than a month and it's no big deal?

Obviously there is concern otherwise he wouldn't be going out of state to see a top specialist in that field.

And as Peter said last night he will play for Sweden if at all possible. With Peter his country commitments mean more than his team commitments.

Should be interesting for teams like the Flyers, NYR's, Wings etc with as many as 10 guys playing in turino to see how much they have left in the tank for the stretch run.

Let Forsberg play, he'll be fine. I know we're all ready to wrap him up in bubble wrap and stick a helmet on the guy but he's an adult. Forsberg knows his limits and wants to play in the Olympics for his country. There's nothing wrong with that. Another bright spot should be that international play isn't nearly as physical as at home, and Sweden won't be competing for medal due to their annual choke. He'll have plenty of time to rest and get refocused on the SC.

Sorry to all the Swedish posters but the team Sweden magic is gone, they've been a disappointment when you consider what kind of ridiculous talent they have.

TSN is reporting that Forsberg does not need surgery and still wants to play in the Olympics if possible. There is no date set for his return
