Comrie to Montreal

Fan 960 reported yesterday that the Habs and Oilers are talking about a Comrie for Ribeiro trade. I think its possible, if the Habs got Comrie they could move either him or Koivu to the wing on a line with Zednik and create a very fast, skilled, goal scoring line - the bread and butter of former Habs teams.

I just think it woudl take a big more then Ribeiro to get Comrie. The Oilers need defense, not offense. Throw Andrew Archer in you could have a deal.

Why lose Ribs who seems to be playing the system well. Not to mention Comrie is completely pathetic on Defence.

for the last time this trade wont happen. First of all Ribeiro so far this season is on his way to a breakout year. 6 points 6 games - 3 goals 3 assits. Ribeiro seems to have a nice bond with the players right now and I dont how the team will react to that. Please stop putting this trade up on the boards frankli im getting tired of it .

Care to add rumor or proposal in your title next time? I must admit you got me there for a second, before I open the thread. :p

Comries a more proven preformer, and when you have a whole team thats good on defense you can afford to have one guys who a little shaky. Comries also never played in a defensive system but that doesn't mean he can't. The Devils have talked to the Oilers about getting him, if he can't play defense at all the Devils wouldn't interested.

BG says we need size and scoring... Comrie is small but can score. I think he is a bit of an upgrade on Ribs but, and there's always a but, Ribs is starting to show his talents... Tough call for BG. Comrie wants out of Edmonton because the fans and media $hit all over him in the playoffs last year, man if he was to land in Montreal he would have to develop some THICK skin!

I think Gainey would be smarter to try and deal someone other than Ribeiro (and other younger strengths) before it came to dealing Ribs.

What about:

Ward, Sundstrom and a defenseman?
maybe Bouillon, Beauchemin or Archer?

The only player who could interest the Habs is Ryan Smyth

Yes most (if not all) of their young players are off to great starts, but if you think they will all continue to play this well all season you're fooling yourself. If they get Comrie they've added a fire fire 25+ goals and 55-60+ points.

That was because he's an Edmonton kid... too much pressure playing at home. Don't blame him. Montreal media might not be that easy... but he won't have much to prove to his hometown faithful.

No I'm a Leaf fan, but I didn't know if that rumor had been reported in here yet, and I thought you guys would want to at least be aware of it.

They don't make up ****. If they reported it they got it from a "source".

Remember too, the teams might have talked (ie - why they were told about it) but nothing could come of it.

I'm not sure they need Comrie when they just drafted Zach Parise a Comrie clone but way better.

obviously its just a rumour thats been going around for the last few days

i would not trade ribeiro for a guy who first of all hasn't played a game yet this year, so he's probably not in game shape, and comrie is not a very good defensive player, ribeiro has adapted to julien's system and is doing quite well, 1 ppg, i've always liked ribeiro and hope that they will not trade him, he's got as much talent as comrie

Crusher20 - IF the Devils got Comrie he would play now for them, Parise is at least 2-3 years away.

habsfan19 - Comries in game shape. All the guys that aren't playing now but want/expect to are skating with other teams and staying in godo enough shape that they can play when the time comes. And like I said Comries NEVER played on a team that stressed defense, whos to say he can't do it?

Ribeiro isn`t very good either. If this trade 1 for 1 happen, it is a steal for Montreal.

Comrie's not going to NJ... their GM has said he's not interested.

Unless we're packaging Sundstrom, Ward and a prospect d-man... or something along those lines... Comrie's not coming to Montreal.

I absolutely agree. It would take more than Ribs to get Comrie IMO. Straight up would be a steal.

I hears someone mention Ward+Ribiero for Comrie I could go for something like that. I would want a scout to watch both of them for about 10 games just to make sure there early season success is not a fluke then I would probably pull the trigger on the deal.

Questions?
1)How good is Ribiero in the face-off dot?
2)Can Ward keep up skating wise with Ethan Moreau(they seem like very similair players to me. I'd say Ethan is just slightly above average and can go decently fast when skating straight)?
3)I know Ward has had various injuries are any of them reccuring/nagging injuries and were any of them knee? back? or concussion related?
