Shishkanov's been compared favorably to Kovalchuk, minus the drive to score on every single shift. He has the skills, size and speed, and at this point it's the mental aspect of the game that he's missing. I'd say Shishkanov's the better of the too. He has the better build for NA pro hockey.

If he was compared to Ilya, it was a mistake. Timofei is extremely talented, but he isn't in Ilya's league. Besides, the "minus the drive" aspect is what hurts his stock so bad. He needs that drive to do anything in the NHL...I think he can, but so far...he hasn't.

Enoch put it well. Shishkanov is a guy we were excited about as he came out of juniors...and gradually more and more disappointed with each passing year in the AHL. He has good size, decent wheels, plenty of skill...but for whatever reason, just can't seem put it together. Smokey once said that it seems like he lacks hockey sense...and that just might be it. He's got a great shot if the puck happens to find him in a position to score, but he's simply not very good at getting there on his own, or knowing where to be. He may still have the potential to find it, but most felt this was a make-or-break year for Shish as far as ever getting over the hump...even in the AHL...and he didn't deliver. 15 goals on one of the best teams in the AHL...getting first line time...didn't do much for anyone.

No one is disputing Shishkanov's talent, and he is probably about to get a very good shot at the NHL. I would wait a week or two to see if the Blues are going to give him time with the club...and how he responds. He was clearly unmotivated here in Nashville, and this year he was really buried on our depth chart with no chance of getting a call unless he played brilliantly. Maybe a chance to play will invigorate him. He has the perfect frame to excel and all kinds of tools.....its a shame he doesn't put forth the effort or maybe it truly is a lack of hockey sense Good guy, but up to this point...his heart has not been where it needs to be to play in the NHL.

yeah well i need to do this deal now. if shish starts doing good, theres a huge chance the guy wont include him in the trade. he seems set on that Alexandrov is the weaker of the two...so i wanna know if i should push for shish or just stick with Alexandrov

If you need points NOW, shish is the guy. If you can spare some time, Alexandrov APPEARS to be the safer pickup, maybe a little less risk less reward type.

I hate to say it, but if you are looking for points now, there are very few Blues left that I would really put money on in a fantasy league.

I should know, I stocked up on a few of them myself...
I truly believed this was gonna be Jammers year.

In this instance, I would not go with the devil you know...Alexandrov probably has more upside only based on the fact that we have not seen him be less than brilliant as we have seen with Shish.
