I feel sorry for Sam Diego charger fans they love the chargers and chargers love SD. I remember the last game last year when the players cried and thought it would be their last game there

Very sad

And if it's going to take a good W/L record, to turn things around? Well based on history, the Chargers will be the second biggest team in LA in a short period of time.

I'm the one who lives in LA so I can honestly tell you that Rams gear was all over the city. Of course, this city didn't magically turn into a Rams town overnight considering the Raiders are still the more popular team here because a) they won a Super Bowl here and b) they actually stayed in the city unlike the Rams, who moved to the suburbs until both teams left Socal in the same year. Not to mention that the Raiders stayed closer to LA. So naturally, the Raiders' fan base stayed more intact in LA.

But with the way you were stating that the Rams were somehow the same as the Chargers was just wrong. I do believe the Raiders' fan base here will eventually die down especially if the Rams start winning and the Raiders move to Vegas. I mean if you're a kid who is growing up in LA, why would you root for a team from hubdreds of miles away whwn you already have a team here? I know with the Raiders it's different with the LA fans but geography still matters.

Spanos is a piece of ****. I wish him and the new LA team nothing but complete misery and failure.

Chargers HQ egged last night

http://fox5sandiego.com/2017/01/11/c...ce-move-to-la/

Aside from a waste of a perfectly part of a hearty breakfast, I applaud.

Something else could have been throw but that all depends on how many people we're walking their dogs last night

To be a little fair to Spanos

When Padres threatened to move SD made keeping them priority

For years with Chargers threatening to move SD has treated it as a non threat

And the fact SD County/City wouldn't budge on a stadium downtown (When Spanos said the Chargers would not stay in are around Qualcomm) is on SD

The new thing with NFL teams is to want a team downtown and nearest the travel hubs/etc

Yea, god forbid San Diego take a few hundred million dollars and throw it down the drain so Spanos could be happy.

Maybe a compromise could have occurred if SD dropped the no downtown stadium nonsense thru years

If they caved on that maybe Spanos would have found way to work out a stadium

It was never going to happen as long as SD refused to have Chargers downtown stadium

Spanos is paying $300 million more to move to LA than he ever offered to SD. Jesus. That's just to move.

Well when SD refuses to allow you to move downtown ,, Moving to LA is far more appealing

In the short term yeah, but he has no fanbase in Los Angeles and probably never will.

Well as owner he is looking at it as building a fanbase from scratch and given LA's population he obviously believes its possible

The increase in value of franchise from moving to LA is also something that I am sure will please him. No one can deny the Chargers value will increase dramatically

If NHL teams can attempt to build fanbases over decades in places like Phoenix/Miami/etc, we really think the NFL cant?

Exactly. If providing an expansion team to a market in which almost nobody follows/knows hockey is fine, then there's certainly no issue with moving an existing team to a market that already follows the country's most popular league.

It'll be successful. It's the NFL after all.

Other than people in SD, I don't get why people hate these relocations to L.A.

Look I wouldn't take the Rams back if I could. I've long since moved on.

That said, if the NFL had a chance to do it over, you can't tell me they wouldn't do it differently. Especially seeing as the Raiders are a pretty good team.

You even said it yourself: the Raiders are the more popular team. And no offense to the sports fans in LA, but if you're not winning, you're not going.

In hindsight (and quite frankly many saw this a year ago) the right team to move were the Raiders. If that meant getting Stan and Davis to swap teams, so be it.

It's too late now. The bridges are burned and the worst owner in sports (in terms of winning) is in a city that demands winning along with a team with no real fan base there. Meanwhile "the more popular team" is likely headed out of the state.

Exactly.

The whole situation couldn't have been handled any worse. The NFL is fast becoming a joke.
