Anderson Acquired, Lalime Recalled.. lots of goalies!

So this is sort of odd.. we not only called Lalime back up on reentry, but claimed Anderson off of waivers. Both are great transactions for the Blues.

But now what? Obviously Beckford-Tseu can be sent down to the AHL, but what will be done with Sanford? I honestly think Anderson is much better than Sanford.

Perhaps someone is going to be traded?

My guess is that nobody claims Lalime, he will be sent back to the minors and will be recalled again until either some team claims him or the season is over.

What is Lalime's contract status? Will be he UFA at the end of this season?

I think that's why the Blues recalled him - in the hope that someone will claim him and they can get rid of half his salary. Anyone who might be interested likely wouldn't trade for him; if they would, they'd probably want the Blues to take back about the same amount of salary, and the Blues have *no* interest in doing that. If someone would give a bag of moldy chips for Lalime, the Blues would take it just to get rid of his salary.

how much are you willing to bet.. because i'll take it all..
montreal's huet.. edmonton's morrison/maakenen and rangers weeks are all better than lalime..

vancouver and calgary are the likely team to claim him.. if he goes unclaimed.. expect him to be traded for salary + pick (4th round pick) to vancouver or calgary..

Why would Calgary want him? They can get a much cheaper Backup than Lalime(heck; they can grab Anderson after Lalime passes through waivers if all they want is a backup).

Oilers are looking for a bonafide number one. Lalime's meltdown means that the Oilers wouldn't be interested.

Vancouver is the likliest team to grab Lalime. They now need to add two d-men and so getting a highly paid #1 goalie is probably out of the question. But they absolutely need an NHL back-up because Ouelette is not the answer.

Can anyone prove he was recalled or is this a rumor. It was not listed on the NHL transactions from yesterday and signing another goalie does not make any sense? I have looked all over the place and can not find one actual source that states he was recalled.

It won't be on the list of transactions; a player waived today won't show up on the Feb. 1 transactions, he'll be on the Feb. 2 transactions when/if he clears.

Trust me, he was recalled from Peoria.

It normally shows "recalls" on their list. That is the way they it is usually characterized. I just can not believe that their is no paper trail on it. I did not find it in the post dispatch or anywhere else.

the poster is correct; nothing will appear on a transaction list until he does or does not clear waivers; of course, if he clears and is not actually brought back up then I don't think it would hit a transaction list

and it was in the online version of today's paper (perhaps in print, too)

"The Blues have sent goaltender Patrick Lalime through NHL re-entry waivers. They will know by 11 a.m. today if he has been claimed by another team or cleared to join the Blues. "

It's just strange. They list all call ups and returns. The AHL site listed the Fata call up in their transactions, so I knew before everyone posted that he was claimed that he was on waivers. The Peoria site didn't show it either.

If I am reading that transaction list correctly, Fata was listed on 1/31 the day he was claimed off of re-entry waivers. For Lalime, that date would be 2/1, today, so it may show up later depending on if he is claimed or if the Bluesbring him up if he is not claimed.

He has apparently cleared waivers and will be on the bench for the Blues tonight in Detroit. The formal announcement should come shortly.

What is your source of this apparent waiver clearing?

More than likely it was the fact that Boulerice and Zigomanis were unavailable for the game Monday night and Shishkanov was - so he got called up to fill a roster spot until the guys from Carolina got here.

He was playing with the great Mark Rycroft and Offensive Woderboy Ryan Johnson; he should have had a 5 point night.

Seriously; we needed to fill a spot and Shiskanov was easier to call up than Disalvatore. That's all there was to it.
