Very odd to see a top 6 forward who has been decent to bad (but not totally bad) scratched for the game. I haven't heard of anything injury wise, and on another board, a totally unsubstantiated source has said there is a deal.

... for anyone interested, the GM is behind the bench, so this may be all for not...

flames need an upgrade at centre...reinprecht , a pending UFA centre, isn't going to address that need in a trade

so if he's traded

its for a backup goalie, a depth defenceman, a draft pick, or a project

most of which won't help the team as much as he could right now. unless the depth defenceman leads to moving a regular top 5 dman for the centre they need

Could this be the piece Regier gets for Noronen or Biron?

The Sabres had Reinprecht for a few seconds before he was traded as a part of the Drury deal, and they need some Center depth while Briere/Connolly are out.

it's possible . doubt Flames would want Biron's contract as a backup.

Noronen, perhaps

I think people are just hoping for another trade to talk about. For a team that doesn't score goals, I find it hard to believe the Flames would trade someone who provides offense for a backup goalie

why would a team who has a hard time scoring goals healthy scratch a guy to dress Jason Wiemer ?

( I mostly agree with you btw, but I at least understand the speculation on this one)

I'll agree with you that he has been very sub-par this season. But in the last 7 or 8 games he has actually played well and has done NOTHING to deserve a benching.

It might not be a trade, but it's strange.

if true then why not trade him for a backup goalie?

either he's useful in which case dont' bench him while the team is sputtering, or he isn't so move him for something that is

Nothing than the fact that sometimes my inferences could be wrong
