He's not really underrated by most. Few Sabres fans probably got offended by a few Leafs fans bashing Eichel after the last Sabres-Leafs (really was over the top and ridiculous by a few posters), and it might have created a perception that he's underrated.

I like to think most people recognize that Eichel is a pretty rare talent.

A lot of the Sabres fans were bagging him on the GDT for the 1st period but I also did for their PP effort was terrible in the first. I'm still like geez dude some guys just have bad periods wait til the game is over.

Needs to be recognized. His ankle probably doesn't feel 100%.

You seem to forget they played on the same team and Matthews worked his way up to the 1st line while Eichel played his way down to the 4th. It's not even close. Great player, but Matthews is in a different tier.

No they can't. Atleast the mistakes I've seen from him, and they were there last year as well.

This thread will likely hurt your cause more than helping it.

That said, Eichel is good.
Matthews is good.
Laine is good.
Marner is good.

I think that covers everything.

On HF it seems like every NHLer is either over or underrated. Doesn't seem like it's possible for there to be middle ground.

I don't think Eichel is widely underrated, the people trying to be edgy are often the most vocal.

In fairness, some of your fan base (not you) have been ****ing all over Eichel for months non-stop.

Great goal for sure, watched it happen. That being said, Nashville's OT game is extremely weak. They allowed Eichel to walk in and do the same wrister in the same location 3 times in OT. That's totally unacceptable. They play way too deep and passive (bad positioning on that specific play) in their zone for 3v3 OT it frustrates me everytime they go to OT.

Can't wait to hear about how those who disagree with this hot take are just fueled by anti-Leafs bias.

Cringe-worthy thread. And I'm a Sabres fan.

We love Jack. We want Jack to develop the competitive motor of his peers, because he can absolutely dominate whenever he feels like it. He doesn't feel like it enough. In time he'll realize, though. Meanwhile, we love watching McDavid and Matthews (even if he plays for the Leafs) and Laine and all the other young stars too.

I don't really care about comparisons. I love having Jack here. I love the hands the NHL is in. I wish we could all focus more on that than on who's rated just right by what percentage of fans on hfboards.
