If z can play a Foote style role I'm OK with that. I'd like to see a bit more offense, but I'd still be happy. Especially if he has any affect on Eric Johnson's game.

I prefer to compare him to Zadorov 1.0 lol. He might be a blend of those guys eventually but hes got some Martin Skoula in him right now aswell.

I was referring to if EJ and Zads were a pair

Tough timing for Zadorov's injury. Prior to the game on Sunday (where he was only -1 in shot differential), he had 13 straight + CF% games. He wasn't exactly getting easy minutes either, playing 20+ in 10 of the 13. I know it's a lost season, but the minutes down the stretch for him would have been real nice.

I don't believe those CF% were indicative of his play recently.

I didn't catch the NJ and CAR games, and it sounds like they weren't his best, but he was just fine against Buffalo. Point was that the team was doing well with him on the ice, and he wasn't doing it against easy competition either. No one said he was perfect, and he still has things to work on, which makes this injury even worse because the last 25+ games would have been good for that.

Not disputing that. Just pointing out that regardless of his CF% being above 50%, he hasn't been good lately.

Soo what is his contract looking like? Bridge or lock him up? Personally I want to lock him up long term at a cheap price, but what do you guys think?

Bridge. I'll take the chance of paying a little extra on his next contract versus taking many years of a painful, unmovable contract if he doesn't live up to his potential.

Bridge him. He still has to prove it and that's what he should get a prove it contract.

I'd go long term if it keeps his cap hit low. Yes I realize we should play it safe since he could easily bust but when I look at the next two years all I see is dollar signs. Those dollar signs represent the cap space we have available. Giving Zadorov 2-3mil more per year over the next two years than he would get on a bridge is far worth it when you consider how much it lowers the rest of those years if he breaks out. We have more than enough cap space the next two years to not worry about bridge deals.

I'd love to offer him the Klefbom contract

I'd try hard for long term for something around ~4-4.5 mil. It actually has plenty of merit based off of others like Hamonic, Klefbom, Larsson, etc.

If Zadarov isn't worth a 4 mil contract in 3-4 years, it means he isn't a top 4 defenseman. And if that happens, we'd still be swimming with the bottom dwellers.

5x1.25 two way. BOOM.

No, really, 8 years and 4 million per would be sexy. It's not reality tho, me thinks. I'd even go closer to 5m per if it meant 8 year deal.

He is #4 already and if he does not improve from there, which I find very unlikely, that would be almost ok deal even then.

I think that is something that i would feel is a really good idea for his contract. I personally think that he will continue to develop as well but even if he stays at the level he is at now and has a bit more puck luck. (he is actually getting a decent amount of shots on and he has set up some pretty great chances where the player he passes it to misses an open net or rings it off the post etc. )

Well that was five and a half months ago

On the other hand I'm sure there's someone to make a joke about his potency.
