Alex Henry

http://www.washingtoncapitals.com/

Saw over on the wild boards that the Caps' website is reporting we've claimed Alex Henry: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/player_b...74&hubName=WSH

Seems like an odd pick-up to me. Enforcer-ish type, on the AHL/NHL edge?

Ahh. I must need coffee, because I didn't even think about Johnson. Remember that back trouble he had last year? I wonder if it's something a little more chronic than they let on. I'm always up for a good conspiracy/controversy.

He's going to be wearing Blouin's old number. :(
Sorry, I just liked Blouin when he was with the Wild.

It'll be interesting to see if Henry will be with the Wild, I assume he will. But who's injured/going to get sent down? Is Bombardir going to be out even though he came back for at least another shift after that hit? I only saw him once after the hit, but I also wasn't looking for him.

It lists him as a defenseman. I find myself curious if Bomber got himself hurt. I saw him go down hard, but didn't really pay that much attention to if he came back in or not.

Anyone recall if he played after that hit yesterday?

I saw him at least one more time that game, same period.

Wild boards are saying that KFAN reported Marshall's been placed on waivers.

(there needs to be a "mildly surprised" smiley)

It doesn't appear the Wild are being very "loyal to the vets that got us to the conference finals." After 1 game, he gets waived. Does this mean Darby is gone after 2, Dowd after 3. etc.? Chouinard has pretty much secured Darby's job. And do we really need another goon? It's going to be hard enough to score goals as it is this season, now we're going to have another guy that plays 2/3's of the season and averages 7 minutes a night. Hopefully there is more to this guy then fights.

Alex Henry played a handful of games for the Oilers as a defenseman before getting sent ot the Caps, who converted him into a forward. I don't know if he provides much skill, but he definitely will offer up some muscle as an enforcer.

*sigh* Last season, that was the Wild's only worry. Now they have to worry about scoring. Please sign Gaborik...and soon.

Like who? Gaborik? Dupuis? That'd work.

Something makes me think they are shifting players around to make room for Dupuis and Gaborik.

I know sounds funny but they might be...also opening room up for Gaborik and Dupuis to sign.

Last year Johnson mandhandled Henry. Not that it matters anymore, but somewhere I read that Henry was a dominant d-men in juniors. Puzzling move by the WILD at this point.

he is just a younger marshall, can play both F and D. Is still learing and growing. If he makes it he makes it if not oh well, just a project.

Well, does anyone have any opinions of him? He looked like a guy that was lost pretty much the whole time he was out there. He was pretty much benched the entire 3rd period as well. He looks to be a regular scratch for quite some time. Maybe he and Roche will go back and forth for awhile.

I didn't pay too much attention to him. I think I'd agree that he didn't look too comfortable out there. He did have a big hit or maybe two, and I noticed him successfully tie someone up in front of the net once. Supposedly he's got decent speed, too. A project, I guess. Maybe a back-up enforcer as well?
