Vintage jerseys

I saw a picture of Zednik in the old vintage jerseys, they look great! I like them better than the current jerseys.

They need to do something about the numbers. That was awful.

I would love to see Montreal drop their current White jersey and use these all the time.

The jerseys look great from the front but the numbers are difficult to read from the back...it must have been a little difficult for the Red Wings broadcast crew since they're not as familiar with the Habs players as Sisto and Wilson.

Mettre une ligne argent comme contour comme les Alouettes dans ce cas, tout est réglé.

Need a white trim outside the red so you can see them on the red middle stripe at the mid-section, or they need to make the number white with a red trim...I like the fact they are blue though.

My girlfriend was watching the game with me and she couldn't figure out how I could tell the players apart cause you couldn't read the numbers. I watch way too much hockey!

The jerseys were awesome though. Some white trim around the numbers and they would be perfect.

I've done quite a bit of play by play for Junior A games and I can tell you those numbers on the Habs jerseys would be tough to follow...especially for the Wings crew. When you have covered a team like the Montreal broadcast crew has, you don't really need to see a player's number, you usually know who it is by their physical characteristics (ie. skating style, the way they move, etc.) White trim would help the numbers but I guess they want to keep it as close as possible to the original.

Wouldn't matter if those numbers on the Habs jerseys or any other jersey than the Leafs was in Neon because Joe Bowen and Bob Cole have a hard time knowing the other team at all, I hate that so much, they are such "homers"...my rant.

You can see why these jerseys only lasted a season....nobody could read them during gameplay...they are nice but a pain in the butt since i was guessing some of the time as to who had the puck...perhaps there should be some black border around the numbers to make them more readable...

I'm gonna put the Rocket on mine. Too bad they didn't have names back then.

I say wear them until we lose.

I loved the jerseys but yeah... way too hard to read the numbers on the back.

The two rules that I was able to figure out for determining who the player was when you couldn't read the sweater were these:

1-if he's wearing goalie pads and standing in the crease, it's matthieu garon.

2-if he's skating fast and looks like he's creating offense, it's jan bulis.

And if you can't tell if he's supposed to be on the ice...he's Yanic Perreault...lol.

Very Nice

The jersey that the Habs wore last night against detriot look amazing and really stand out.

When I first saw them I thought they looked horriable. I am not sure if it was because I sas just a picture of the jersey or because I did not get a chance to see the jersey on any of the players before I made my desicion.

In any cause I have changed my old desicion of the Jersey being horriable to them looking amazing. After all, we should have the right to change are minds once more information or a better look at something is available.

Great look with new Habs uniform.

just my 2 cents.

Who needs the numbers? Can't you tell by the size, movement and equipement?

You guys would get killed in a real hockey game. Do you think the players look for jersey numbers when they make a quick decision to pass or shoot?

As for silver lines around the numbers....yeah, that's real retro.

I love the vintage unis from last night. I also found the #s a bit hard to read. They should try adjusting it. Originally I assumed that it was like that because it was "historically accurate", but acording to nhluniforms.com the #s were originally white. Weird. Maybe the site is wrong... but I think white #s (with a thicker blue outline) would look great so maybe they should try it.

Look for those vintage uniforms to return at the Heritage Classic. Oilers will be wearing the old blue and orange.

Not sure if those jerseys will also be worn by the Legends for the Alumni game, but it would be sweet if they were.

Can you imagine the bidding for the game-worn Lafleur?
