Yeah I know - Peluso was on the top line and the PP for a while.

But this is OT for the Jets Prospects thread...

He is taller than Schwartz, dominated in NCAA to a greater degree and is playing on an AHL team hampered by lack of PMD to start the offense. Not a bad comparable though. Schwartz is shorter but more muscular. A lot of posters have commented on Connor's apparent lack of strength.

I'd like to see him put on a few pounds of muscle - not concentrating on adding bulk but strength. A few pounds would likely come with that. Then do another year in the A. He would be likely to get some injury call up time and be ready to claim an NHL job the next year. Entirely possible that with a little added strength and this year under his belt that he would be ready by next TC but no rush.

I still have no concern with Connor. He is progressing well at a still young age.

That people who actually watch players play have a generally better idea then those that don't?

So Button doesn't watch players then?

Nobody is watching Stanley right now. Is he rising because he's not playing?

Heh...

Reminds me of DTM's WAR model saying Thorburn will be better next year, because it assumes he retires which is a positive influence.

Maybe using a linear projection of his improvement in the first half of the season in terms of point production...

Or maybe Button was really impressed by his shot generation (about 2.7/game, which would have been top 10 in the OHL by defensemen last season).

I think Stanley actually has good puck skills and offensive instincts. It's going the other way where he continues to struggle and will need to develop.

That whole list is kind of all over the place... I like Chabot but i think having him Myers and Kaprizov that high over some of the other lower ranked guys is definitely a case of the world junior small sample sized tournament.

Stanley ahead of Roslovic is pretty hillarious

Agree. I think Roslovic is too low, regardless.

Not so much.... Had him ranked at #42 in his March rankings before the draft, and #30 in his final (June) rankings.

Stanley over Jake Bean, Kale Clague, Sam Girard, Adam Fox? Over Rubstov (tearing up the Q), Gaudette (tearing up the NCAA)? What does Chevy have on Button?

It's a very curious ranking, and hard to understand.

I doubt that Button has seen him enough to change his mind so substantially. My guess is that he's talked to a few scouts and other hockey personnel that were impressed by him this season. I doubt that he would just listen to the opinions of Jets' scouts / personnel about their own prospect.

Someone on 1290 should have him on an upcoming show and get him to explain.

People hate it when they are wrong

I think if he wasn't injured we would be seeing the progression that they envisioned him making when the drafted him.

Stanley was progressing nicely. I think last portion of the season and memorial cup run we would have seen serious progression.

It's just one opinion. I like to pay attention to Button's draft list because he thinks like a GM and gives context to variance in draft rankings. But I don't consider his list anything like gospel. My favorite list is McKenzie's concensus but he doesn't do that for players already drafted
