I know you don't think much of Marner, but I don't think you've seen him enough, or just doubt him because he's smaller maybe? He's the best of the 3 so far.

Price is a great goalie, but he was built up as the best by Montreal and really Canadian media before he even reached that point. Then when he finally did, in 2014, it was like the hype train exploded and he was being said to be the best goalie of his generation and a hall of famer. Canadian media also pumps his tires for winning gold on team Canada, literally the most stacked olympic team of all time.

He had a great season and deserved all of his accolades for that. I don't think Price is the most overrated player in the league, but I understand where the sentiment comes from.

I like Marner a lot, he's a great player and surpassed my expectations this season.

But he's not better than Eichel.

The ****? He is one of the most underrated players, no-one talks about him. I assume you base your viewings on the World Cup, where he played injured. When Sasha is 100% fit, he is a beast.

^^ Has a nagging injury atm btw. When he came back with Huberdeau, Florida has somehow been winning again. Totally overrated.

If we are talking collectively over the last decade, for me it is either D. Brown or Chara.

Price gave up three goals in five games in the Olympics and had a .967 SV%. Pretty sure he stopped the puck just fine.

Great post! However, to me he is the most overrated player.

Do we really need one of these threads every month? This was started a month ago:

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...ight=overrated

... and then another one exactly a month before it :

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...ight=overrated

Does enough happen in one month that a new "most overrated is player in the league" is crowned? I mean I guess I would believe it in HF. The recencey bias here is astounding. Still no reason for this thread. People generally just use "most overrated" as a startup to bash a player they don't like

The hypocrisy of Lundqvist fans calling Price overrated because he was expected to win championships and be the best goalie of a generation after winning a Vezina and MVP.

Price and Luongo are better goalies than Lundqvist this season and they are less of a cap hit.

It's called the "meet me halfway" tactic.

The difference being that Lundqvist is indeed the best of his generation. While Price is a good goalie, the reason he is considered overrated is because he was lifted up as the greatest after 1 beastly season. We have had multiple goalies peaking 1 or 2 seasons and then falling back to earth. Meanwhile Lundqvist has been consistent for over a decade.

Do you remember Jose Theodore? At least Theodore had playoff success.

What does any of that have to do with Luongo being "shaky" in the 2010 Olympics

I'm a Leafs fan that is saying OP is very misinformed on Price. He's been the best goalie in the world the past 3ish years easily. Just because he hasn't been the undisputed best this year, doesn't mean the last 3 years didn't happen.
