NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

It’s just that this is different than playing 30 games. Here we work out after games.
In college, it was like, go do schoolwork, or my family or everyone’s family was at games.
And we only played twice a week. So I’m still in the process of becoming a pro.
- Jimmy Vesey

I’m gonna tell you, that last couple of minutes, you hear the crowd, you get goosebumps.
It was just like my first game here when they chanted my name and that was 12 years ago.
- Henrik Lundqvist

His preparation and his focus is with the top players that I’ve coached.
He wants to do well, he wants this team to do well and we’ve got a great role model there as far as competing and working.
So I’m happy that he got this done tonight.
- Alain Vigneault

Although I think it's the wrong decision because we have two days off after tonight, I almost expect raanta tonight.

If it were my call raanta would only play the back to backs the rest of the way. 4 games and maybe one more in there somewhere. So 5 games

Sure enough Tasch just tweeted hank on with the extras. It's just not smart. That's Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday without a game for hank. He's shown he doesn't want long breaks. AV ignores it. No reason to sit him with two days off coming.

Big game tonight. Columbus has come back down to earth a little since their run, but still going to be a tough game. Is Raanta getting the start or do you continue with a hot Lundqvist?

Personally I'd have gone with Lundqvist but when was the last time Raanta played? Columbus, two weeks ago. Probably not a bad idea to get Raanta a game.

It's not about raanta though at this point it's about making sure hank is in a rhythm and going hot come playoff time. Raanta did his job and yeah if something happens he'll need to step in but that's something I'd worry about later.

Now your on a 5 game win streak didnt play yesterday don't play for two days after tonight no reason to sit hank with how few games he's played already.

I would've played Hank tonight and Raanta against the Islanders, but oh well.

I loathe 7:30 games.

When was it confirmed that Buchnevich moved up with Nash and Zibanejad and Vesey moved to the 4th line? I like this if true.

Hank should be getting everything division game here on out. These are the teams they need him to dominate come April.

Vigneault did change the lines at practice, moving Pavel Buchnevich back up into the top six, alongside Mika Zibanejad and Rick Nash.
He reunited the Chris Kreider-Derek Stepan-Mats Zuccarello line, and put rookie Jimmy Vesey down on the fourth line with Oscar Lindberg and Jesper Fast.

Yeah, I'd also go with Hank tonight, good point about Raanta, needs to shake off some rust, but rather go with a hot Lundqvist and get himself ready for the playoffs, which is not too far around the corner.

You should never sit a hot goalie. AV should ride the hot hand until Hank loses a game.

There will be plenty of games for Raanta to win back his starting job but for now it belongs to Hank.

Raanta deserves a start, nothing wrong with playing him in Columbus. Remember, even when Hank doesn't play a game, doesn't mean he's sitting on his ass for days. He practices hard and faces lots of shots practice.

A few days off between games does not make him 'cold'.

Two days off from actual games, but not practice. Seeing rubber and working on technique is equally important. He's not sitting on his couch watching Netflix for 48 hours straight...

And PB did rejoice! Glad he put Streiderello back together and got PB back in the top 6, however as mentioned I guess we'll never see Kreider-Zib-Buch again which is a damn shame. Hope Vesey continues to play hard and starts to bury some chances.
