Agree that Hank should be getting the start. There's Buch back in the top-6, so that meltdown can finally end now. Let's hope Vesey can keep that streak of strong play going.

Um actually it has precisely done just that. Few days off and he comes back looking like a beer leaguer. Happens every time. He'll have 4 days off beteeen games. Every time he gets hot AV pulls him out and it's back to square one

In reality, AV most likely remembers last season that he played the last game of the season to win, and the Isles didn't. The Isles got the Panthers in the first round, we got the Penguins.

I think AV is putting in his back up for this game instead of other games because he wouldn't mind losing to Columbus because he wants Montreal in the first round, and doesn't want Pittsburgh.

Nope, his slump was related to a lack of mental focus, loss of confidence and lack of real practice time due to mandatory time off/all-star game.

Yes, I'm aware of the concept of practice for a professional athlete, thanks.

Vigneault did change the lines at practice, moving Pavel Buchnevich back up into the top six, alongside Mika Zibanejad and Rick Nash.
He reunited the Chris Kreider-Derek Stepan-Mats Zuccarello line, and put rookie Jimmy Vesey down on the fourth line with Oscar Lindberg and Jesper Fast.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but Girardi sounds like he grasping for every possible combination of words to try as hard as possible to sound like he's a good hockey player...

"Obviously your feet are important to the game"... No ****, and you just had your ****ing ankle stitched, and could hardly skate well before the injury--as if now you'll come back rejuvenated... Sick of this guy as a Ranger

On the bright side, at least Brooks is calling out AV for his ********

Quote:
At the start of the season, the plan from Vigneault was to sit Girardi occasionally as a preventive measure against injury. That hasn’t exactly panned out, though Adam Clendening has stepped in and played well in his 20 games, including the previous two.

Hmm that's funny according to you he was never in a slump it was never his fault which is it?

If that's AV's thinking (and good chance it is), then I'm definitely in full agreement.

Nev said multiple times it was all mental for Hank's struggles....

If you're going to come at him, at least know what you're talking about lol

Exactly, I reiterated it many times during his struggles and it wasn't helping that the team was giving up ridiculously high percentage scoring opportunities against during that stretch.

The team in front of him stepped up and played better defensively as a unit, Hank got his confidence back in game and tweaked things in practice and we are where we are now.

February 2017 so far...

5-0, 1.98 GAA, .946 SV%

Nev as well as myself were the ones strongly suggesting his issues was due to lack of focus.

I truly believe that a loss tonight brings us closer to winning the Stanley Cup than a win would. Ridiculous.

Between the loser point and the terrible playoff format, this league is doing everything it can to drive me insane. But they know I'll still watch tonight, and that's the problem

And of course it's lack of focus some just liked to put everything on the defense took forever to admit that.

Hank not playing tonight though so let's get back on topic.

Looking forward to seeing Buchnevich in a bigger role tonight

If he gets going... dear god look out. This offense will be unstoppable. Its been crazy. Whenever someone has slumped, someone else has picked it up. The skill and depth throughout our forward crops is absurd. Absolutely absurd. We don't need any game breakers.

Are these the projected lines for tonight...

NASH - ZIBANEJAD - BUCHNEVICH
KREIDER - STEPAN - ZUCCARELLO
MILLER - HAYES - GRABNER
VESEY - LINDBERG - FAST

So Step back with Kreider and Zucc. That top line looks promising. Nash looked really good last game, finally got awarded a goal for his hard work.

Find me the goalie that tosses up a .920 every game. Holtby won the Vezina last year with a .922.
