Is the NHL by far the most boring of the NA sports?

I'll start by saying that hockey is my favorite sport for sure. Basketball is really fun to watch but hockey still edges it out for me. And football and baseball barely hold my attention at all. I still barely know the rules to both the sports. The MLB in particular rarely gets my attention at all, the most fun I had had with baseball was probably in Wii Sports, yet the much hyped finals kept my attention much more than the snoozefest NHL finals. Even when it looked like the Cubs had no chance of coming back. The NFL, a league I mostly follow just to look at the scandals and funny storylines occassionally. Delivered actually quite a exhilarating season with the greatest finals I have ever witnessed in any sport in history (Although 2016 NBA finals and 2010 Gold Medal game come close. And the NBA, as a raptors fan I probably expose myself to the NBA quite a lot. And in the last 8 months...
- a 73-9 team blew a 3-1 lead in the finals
- A generational talent pulled a lebron in a arguably worse fashion.
- Westbrook is AVERAGING A TRIPLE DOUBLE
- Harden is also putting up historic numbers
- SOMEONE GOT 60 POINTS WHILE ONLY HOLDING THE BALL FOR 90 seconds
- Green got a triple double with steals
- Historical Draft upcoming

I can go on and on about how exhilarating this NBA season has been, my point is that the NHL has had very little excitement despite the influx of young talent. Part of it is that hockey, more often than not is just boring to watch. Even being the fan of one of a team full of young exicting talent. I just find the product of hockey exciting maybe about 50% of the time. Is this boredom of hockey just me or has it been commonplace for people on this board?

I don't know, I can't put my finger on it, maybe its just the lack of goals or the lack of storylines? I can't be the only one who feels this way.

EDIT: Well, probably not the best place to ask this question

EDIT2: Let me reiterate my argument in a more cohesive way. The product of the NHL has become boring due to a lack of personalises, drama and story lines. The on-ice product is often somewhat boring as coaches and defensive systems and the refusal to call penalties are slowing fazing goals out of circulation. and a complete lack of big trades and free agents signings make the off-season ridiculously boring.

NBA is awful for parity. It's a 2 team league Cleveland and Golden State. In the NHL the race to the playoffs is so tight and any team can make it to the playoffs and go on a run to the Cup.

Basketball and Football are and I follow both of those sports too(mlb too). Basketball is boring because far too often, the first 3 quarters are meaningless. And the last two minutes take an hour to play. There's no flow. The NFL is boring in that there's an insane amount of commercials. It can be hard to stay focused at times.

It's also awful for rigging games. No league manipulates games more than the NBA. No Shame.

Football has to be the most boring at this point with all the ads and little gameplay and one game a week.

I have a really hard time watching the NBA. Sure there's some exciting dunks and some nice plays, but to actually sit down and watch an entire game, no thanks. Also the NBA has far and away the worst officials in all of professional sports. You take the worst officiated NHL game, and it's not even in the top 10 bad NBA officiated games.

NBA has 30 teams and only 2 actually matter. That completely ruins it for me.

Never cared about american football or baseball.

I doubt even baseball fans would rank it as less boring than the NHL

I'd imagine being bored by your favorite sport would be like taking the Michael Scott position of "My favorite restaurant closed down. My new favorite restaurant sucks."

Baseball, golf, basketball all far less entertaining to watch imo. Basketball being the worst a bunch of grown ass men claiming to be professional "athletes" flopping around on the court like they were just shot when some on grazes them. It's embarrassing.

The sport of hockey is fine. Watch any CHL or NCAA game if you don't believe me. The NHL's coaches/GMs just love to suck the fun out of the game in the pursuit of job security

Glad to see someone that sees pretty eye to eye with me.

Hockey is fun to watch, I am not bored by hockey, fundamentally, at its best, hockey is the funnest sport to watch. I am bored by the NHL.

Can a mod edit the sport in the title to league? Seems to be misleading a lot of ppl.

The nhl does not define the game of Hockey.

The game of Hockey is thriving across the planet like never before.

The product of the nhl is god awful, from audience experience and entertainment aspects of how the game is played. Anyone with a cerebral cortex should be aware of that.

Sport is an art, like when you watch ballet, or see a pianist perform, it's about greatness, the only time we see truly great teams is at the Olympics. And now they don't want to go there to because citizens in Florida and Carolina will forget the nhl exists.

Parity has ruined the league.

The only problem with the NHL is the atrocious reffing, but other sports have to deal with that as well. In terms of parity and competition and entertaining product it's definitely at the top

To some extent this is true. Any type of excentric personality gets quelled quickly (Subban, Hertl to some extent), the hard salary cap makes big trades very hard and rare (just like in the NFL), and the game is extremely defensive at the moment. Some rule change probably have to happen, similarly to how the state of the NBA in the 60's before they added the shot clock.
