Very random. We are talking about a small amount of goals, quite a bit of variability from year to year.

Three of the second-rounders from that draft are important parts of our team, and we've got a fourth second-rounder as our #7D. (Saad, Jenner, Karlsson; Harrington)

Despite that, it's kind of debatable whether or not we have the best second-rounder out of that draft, because Kucherov.

It's been that way all the way back to the beginning of his Caps days. He did have some high profile gaffes, BUT, he more than made up for it with his other skills. I think the whole, "left off the Olympic team" thing really cemented peoples opinions of him (unfairly).

Klefbom is a stud

Klef, Larsson, Nurse are all cornerstones of a really good D to come.

Adding a PP QB will put the Oilers D over the top, but they've come a long way under the Chiarelli era.

Sekera, Benning, Russel are all great complimentary pieces right now as well.

He has been soft in his defensive zone coverage this year but has been good offensively.

Meh. Needs to show a lot more before I start pumping his tires.

Sekera us still the best all around defenseman on the Oilers

Got another one tonight, one period left. 10 goals on the season, not sure how many were 5v5.

He's not, Larsson is. Sekera was looking dominant for a stretch of games, but Larsson has been the most consistently great D on the team. Klefbom is easily the most dynamic with the highest potential though, followed by Nurse who its still hard to get a read on what he'll fully become.

I may be wrong, but I believe 8 of 10 are even strength.

I think Klefbom has been the best. Don't see how Larsson is better than him defensively, and there's no way Larsson comes close to Klefboms offence.

If you don't see how Larsson is better defensively then you don't see. 3 games ago Klefbom made a no look back pass in his own zone to Trevor Van Reimsdyke in the slot for a goal against. Larsson is the best most consistent D on the Edmonton Oilers hands down. Almost never makes mistakes and just hits and breaks up plays all night every night.

Lol not even close. Every oiler fan could tell you Larson is far and above superior to klefbom in the defensive aspect of the game, but that's not taking anything away from klefbom just more of a credit to Larson's elite defensive game

Good for him, as the Oilers have improved so has he. He's going to be a good 1 for a long time IMO.

Agreed 100%.

Klefbom is a better puck mover, has a booming shot (scored again with it last night v Philly), and has that intangible that provides the foundation for a 1/2D. But Larsson has been very solid defensively, our most reliable "defender". Brilliant work last night along the boards, and solid stick work.

Sekera's having a great year, no doubt. Possibly our best all-round dman this season. But his ceiling isn't Klefbom's.

All in all, a solid blueline performance this year, first we can say that in many, many years. Love it.

Nah, Klefbom back in 14-15 looked elite for a large stretch of games. He's just finally healthy after a freaky year of injuries.

Having watched Petry from NCAA onwards, I can safely say Klefbom is well ahead of his progress and has better tools.

The Penner offersheet looks a little better knowing that we eventually turned Penner into Klefbom.

If a Swedish defenseman is a higher ranked draft pick, you have to make that pick it seems, not many of those guys turn into flops.

Attended both Sharks-Oilers games in San Jose this season and in both games Klefbom really impressed me.

So happy to see this defense coming together. Once the organization picked Nurse it felt like the pendulum was swinging the other way. Its a great looking core
