Sometimes I wish hockey players weren't so modest. Skating, stickhandling, sure. I could see vision as well. But McDavid has nowhere near Forsberg's cycling game. He might eventually though.

This is practically Wayne Gretzky material.

Forsberg had the physical edge to his game, was better defensively, and was better at slowing the game down than McDavid is at this point in time.

Forsberg looked better on skates. McDavid looks like a strong breeze would knock him over. Just make sure he never plays in an outdoor game.

Wayne Gretzky said that Peter Forsberg is the greatest player he ever saw giving compliments to other players.

We'll never know how Forsberg would do in today's NHL without the clutch and grab (and the resulting injuries). Or, how would McDavid do in the 90's getting slashed and hooked to no end.

McDavid is the best player to be drafted since Mario Lemieux so I can understand why Forsberg would say that. If he's wrong, it's not by much. McDavid is unbelievable. Crazy to think he's just barely 20 years old.

He knows that's not true, Forsberg even had a better shot. Forsberg at his peak was simply a better hockey player, but of course McDavid is still just 20.

He played in one a few months ago... That outdoor breeze made him faster.

McDavid once told me that Peter Forsberg told him that Simon Gagne was the purest shooter he'd ever played with

Players always are modest in interviews. They always talk up other star players at their own expense, especially the young ones. It's just good for the game that way.

Forsberg is closer to Crosby than McDavid. Both elite cycle games and vision and grit. Sid's a much better goalscorer though. Forsberg was a better hitter, though Sid can truck people when he has the mind to.

Listening to Forsberg comment on himself, you'd think he had beer league talent and never played a decent hockey game in his life.

Zlatan would probably say he's the best hockey player in the world, if asked.

Am I the only one that reads comments like these and see shots being taken? Like saying Karlsson is elite at all aspects of defense or Gagner is the purest shooter of all time
