What's Allison's contract situation?

I can't believe I'm actually posting this. Tubby is rarely wrong - I thought one of the times he was way off base was when he suggested that bringing Allison back wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm a convert - with reservations.

Jason Allison would help many of the ills of the PP, but only so long as he only had a 1 year contract - it would help keep him focused

I think he signed a 1 year deal.
So he should be an UFA next Summer.

I'd like to have Allison back too.

However, somehow I don't see DT doing it.

The split in our locker room and the other problems Allison brings would not be worth.
He wasn't offered a contract for a very good reason.

Have to agree. We don't need any prima donnas, for lack of a better term.
Do we need a good face off specialist? Yes, but Allison's not the answer.

I find it a little interesting that the only person (that I know of, at least) who had a problem with Allison was the coach, yet you hear few people call Andy a locker room cancer (despite Allison not being the first or the last). Hmm.

Andy Murray isn't the only person Allison had a problem with. Go up to Cammalleri if you ever get a chance and get his opinion of Jason Allison. You shouldn't comment on what goes on behind the scenes unless you are aware of it.

And Allison has had off-ice problems with other people outside of the Kings organization. Hmm.

There was a reason his bowl-a-thon was put off four times...and it wasn't his injuries. What I was told was that until Modry (who is one of the all-time "great guy" Kings) gave in and decided to go and get other Kings to go, it wasn't going to happen at all.

Nope, Allison was (is) disliked by many. And it goes back to his Bruins, Caps, Pirates and Knights days.

Why can't Kings fans just let go and move on from the past? No more Jason Allison or Ziggy Palffy.

There are better options at center that could possibly be had, if not at the trade deadline, then during the summer. If they are going to add someone from the past, look at Olli Jokinen. Tampa Bay has a decision to make with Brad Richards. And if Joe Thornton could be dealt, then so can Vinny Lecavalier, and the way he has performed after signing a brand new and hefty contract, it wouldn't surprise me if Vinny was eventually moved to enable the Bolts to improve in net and on defense.

Marc Savard is having a career year and is also set to become an unrestricted free agent. Saku Koivu will become a free agent. Scott Gomez's contract will also be expiring at the end of this season. If the Kings are more inclined of adding a two-way center, Jeff Halpern will be another available free agent. Jason Arnott will become a free agent. Doug Weight, Mike Peca and Alyn McCauley will also be free agents come July 1.

There are so many centers that could be available during the off-season that could help the Kings, and bump Conroy down to a role he is suited to play, as a 1B center, like Brian Rolston.

You're right; I probably shouldn't have gone there. Using the saintly Allison to take a poke at AM was a pretty dumb thing to attempt, I admit
