I can't reveal my sources but they tell me that a victory tonight will increase our win column.

Pretty big if true.

After going through the main boards (and hell our boards) the New York Rangers get absolutely no respect and have to be the most underrated team in the show

I'm not trying to re-enter this argument. I'm just pointing out why the post I quoted is bad.

Both are not great, but Vesey just came of a GWG. Kinda hard to argue that he needs to sit a game after that.

Eye test wise (cringes from the analytics folks throwing rotten tomatoes at me) Vesey has looked pretty awesome the past few - half dozen games.

If he looks crappy tonight and in the next few maybe he'll get benched also? *shrugs*

Does Buch need a seat?

I have no issue as long as it isn't for weeks at a time. I would imagine that AV feels different players area treated differently not just because rookie or vet, but because he feels they'll respond differently?

Again, I dunno. Merely playing devils advocate.

Oh well! At least we get Pumpkin tonight
Clendening? JT a year or two ago? Buch sitting 1 game is ok. People are overreacting way too much.

Yes, but the Rangers have to score more goals than the Islanders, right?

People realize Buch started the game on the top line (and has gotten top pp mins since Pirri came out of line up in which we've been awful on pp) and was an absolute liability out there. Dropped to 4th line continued to be a liability in front of our own eyes.

AV actually protected him said he played so so. He did not. He was not even NHL caliber Monday night. Vesey meanwhile started on 4th line was going all night got promoted and scored game winning goal. So yeah he stays in.

What player in the top 9 should Buchnevich be playing over based off his last few games? No one.

Meanwhile Puempel produces when he's in the lineup is only 2 years older and has sat 4 straight. If Buch is going to play like he did Monday he does not deserve to be in the lineup over Puempel. At least not tonight.

I fail to see how anyone could be upset by this. I'm excited for Puempel to get some ice time he's earned it and played very well for us

I am fine with rookies sitting a couple of games for educational purposes. What i can't understand is AVs sense of accountability. He didn't scratch Vesey altough he was a ghost out there for 10+ games and arguably needed some rest.

Also, Buch is not even close to being responsible for the kind of defensive gaffes JT was.

Do 1-0 games that end in a shootout victory count as a goal scored in the standings? I legitimately do not know.

They do award both goalies a shutout though in that scenario so If I had to guess I'd say they don't?

I'm a big advanced stat proponent but when it comes to teams like the Islanders/Devils, I don't care if we get out shot 75-3. I just want to win.

Like Ras said above, "Don't care how you do it"

It is still a goal though, even if they don't count it on the players stat sheet. I think a player should be given a goal in their stats if they had the game deciding goal in a SO. But good point though.

Yeah, that's how I remember it as well. For sure the players don't get credit for a goal.

I guess it's time for us to have 8-9+ winning streak like everyone else in the league has, so why not get to #7 in a row vs the Fisherman. God speaking of fisherman, does anyone remember those hideous Fisherman Isles uniforms they had from the early 2000's? Lord were they an abomination.

I think those unies were worse than the one's we had those two seasons during I think the 1976 and 1977 seasons where we had the Ranger crest in the middle. I know there are some in here who might have liked them but for me, I hated them.

I got a feeling we are looking at a 6-5 type of game. Nash with two goals and the GWG.

If Gorton was the Isles GM they really should have just been called Gortons Fishermen.
