Don't believe Sportsnet's Trade Deadline commercial.

I'm sorry but I can't help it. I can't stop laughing at the commercial for the deadline, hyping it to get ratings like any network would do.

BUT all these clips from Doug McLean saying this team now has a legitimate shot or was it kypreos?

And then at the end anything can happen!

It's so forced, every deadline is boring as hell and honestly with how social media is now and apps there is No need to tune in and wake up early.

The deadline is like the new all star game, boring each year they should almost change it like they did the all star game.

The trade deadline needs to be more like the draft, all teams in one room. Talk about deals getting done

I don't trust anything sportsnet says. If they report that Gretzky was good at hockey I look for independent verification

I agree but they know it as well and that's why they are bringing in Bryz.

I'll still try to catch the trade deadline on TSN if I'm not busy that day

I miss the TSN panel duthie is great.

However this just proves my point further....how many years in a row has duthie joked about how there's no big trades and he wants someone to pick up the phone.

It seems that's all he says for the first four hours while they highlight someone like Matt Martin moving teams and they list players that could be on the move and almost none matter....it's just boring.

I love July first give me that day over deadline any day yet that barely gets coverage.

Ya its usually pretty lacklustre. The biggest trade this year will probably be Iginla lol

All this talk of the top UFAs and stuff and I doubt any will get moved.

Hope I am wrong though.

On trade deadline day. Sportsnet coverage doesn't exist on my tv. I'm all TSN or nothing at all.

But the best part of Trade Deadline coverage is how much they try to hype up even the most minor transactions.

The biggest ever from anyone ever. Some dishonest media so dishonest! Say it's not that humongous big but it is! Ask anyone! I was just asking my people great people by the way so unfair how they say we're all insane on twitter about how big it'll be and it's just so totally huge!! So totally dishonest how CNN doesn't say it's gonna be that big I hate CNN and watched it for ten solid hours yesterday just to confirm I hate it nothing good said about me. Huge trade deadline show this year. The biglyest!

This is the first time I will miss the trade deadline. Every year my brother and me would take the day off of work to watch it together.

I have found that every year it get more and more boring. I mean just watch the last hour or two and you will see 90% of the day's trades.

So you'd rather watch a loop of sports highlights or darts or poker? Its not like some major sports event is being cut for trade deadline coverage.

They pay these guys already, its like one of three days a year they actually utilize them for a whole day.

I mean there's literally nothing that Sportsnet could do to convince me to watch their garbage product over TSN's

Coverage starting at 6 AM (RDS does this) is excessive as no deals happen until much later. However, like someone here said, it's not like there's anything better to have on TV.

Where I really wish they would step up their game is the draft coverage, especially round 2. I don't understand why they fill that coverage with irrelevent interviews instead of discussing each and every single pick made as they happen (and trades as well). No network has done anything to address this yet and I feel like it's long overdue (we should start a petition or something).

Anyhow, trade deadline is #3 behind the draft and July 1st for me in termes of hype.

If you actually plan on spending your day watching trade deadline shows, you're gonna have a sad time.

Bring all of the players too, or at least guys who could be available. Then when a trade is made they can go on stage and have a photo op with their new coach and jersey!

I'm kidding of course, but it would certainly make for entertaining television.
