Missed his knee-on-knee attempt so he had to go for the finisher on Sharp

I hope Sharp is ok, but let's put down the torches and pitchforks shall we, OP?

Unfortunate incidental contact from a chain reaction of events.

Sounds like Sharp did return to the game too, so it's good to hear he wasn't seriously hurt.

Wow..... talk about power of editing.

I looked at clips in OP and thought -- "What the hell was that? That's crazy".

Now I see above and think -- "What the hell is Lindy Ruff talking about? That's crazy".

At first glance it looks dirty as hell and I wondered wtf is he thinking

Then I see the 2nd vid and he obviously clips skates w the other Stars player and loses his balance right into Sharp

No suspension coming on this one

The OP and the penalty are ridiculous.

Three players are crossing paths, with Nino trying to get through to get in position to funnel the puck carrier.

Faska knocks Nino off balance.

Nino tries for a second to avoid contact and then just braces himself for the collision.

Sharp, who I like as a player, for some reason is not remotely looking where he is going.

Nino is bigger than Sharp.

It ends up badly for Sharp.

Nino's expression was that he clearly did not try to do that.

Dallas gets up in arms over their own causation chain.

And then Faska immediately picks a fight with Wild "strong man" Eric Haula.

What a joke.

Then again, judging by some of the threads on Marchand, half of HF will still think this was deliberate.
Waaaahh, poor Marchand!

You do realize that when you play dirty on a consistent basis, you lose the benefit of the doubt. . . Is that really too complicated a concept for you to figure out?

Just a dumb two minutes for interference.

Saw the first gif of the hit and went "Ohhhh he's gonna sit for a while"

Then there's context shown. He was clipped by the other player so I doubt it was intentional.

its not illegal to look at a guy.

you didn't see him almost get tripped ? my guess is that it gets rescinded.

Man I didn't get to see this live last night, saw this title and came in expecting to see a dirty hit, because even though Nino is mostly clean, it wouldn't be surprising if someone who sometimes plays on the edge, crosses it.

This is not a dirty play (at least not by Nino), and the fact that he got ejected for this is a joke.

2 minute penalty for interference at the most, but in no way is this a 5 minute major. No way. Nino got tripped and didn't have the time to avoid Sharp.

Nino tripped into accidental collision.

Coach tries to turn the attention away from the game and ridiculous roster moves in the summer killing the blueline.

Ironic that after being on the receiving end of that cheap shot from Tie Domi in the playoffs, he would try something like this on Sharp.

Wasn't dirty at all. Analyze the whole play before concluding it's dirty.

As the second video showed the collision was a result of Faksa clipping Nino.
Nothing to see here.

Based on the second GIF, the game misconduct should be rescinded. That should have been a penalty on Dallas (Faska) for clipping and sending Niederreiter into Sharp, with Minnesota getting a 2-minute power play instead of Dallas getting a 5-minute power play.

Incidental contact, nothing to see here.

I could see the refs giving Nino a minor just to try to cool things off and maintain control since it was getting a little chippy, but a major is just laughable.

Luckily there was under two minutes left otherwise the major could have changed the outcome of the game.

Another reason why all 5s should be reviewable.

On the Wild TV feed they showed the play from a behind the net view. You could see Faksa swerve his foot out to contact Nino.

Incidental contact. Probably won't even get a second look from the league.

Not a penalty. Accidental collision.
