Questions...

what is the Stars record (including total points) since the Niinimaa trade?

what were the Pacific Division standings at the time of the trade?

The Stars are 9-3-1 since acquiring Niniimaa. (19 out of 26 possible points gained).

Dallas was either in 1st place, like today, or they were a close 2nd. If we were 9-3-1..

He joined us at the *thinks* Minnesota game...so we were in 1st place then.

got it... 2 points ahead of the Kings. now 12 points ahead, and after this evening... STILL with 2 games in hand.

i was using this as an opportunity to dispell any delusions of grandeur my fellow, more myopic Kings fans had about this team and our general manager.

I thought the Washington game was his first, and I based my calculation on that.

The Washington game was the game after that.

If we were 9-3-1 we had just come off beating Detroit to make our winning streak to 3..

We've 13-3-2 so far in 2006...2, 6 game winning streaks + one againist Nashville. It might have been Washington..?

Doesn't really matter; he missed several games due to injury and last night was really his first good game as a Dallas Star.

not the point. the point was, a first place team made a move to seriously improve, and went further into first place. timing has as much to do with a move sometimes as the move itself!

I think the Kings fall is more about lack of depth on the blueline and questionable goaltending. I picked them to finish 3rd or 4th in the division before the season began. They got off to a hot start but now things seem to be leveling out for them.

believe me... as a season ticket holder, the problem is NOT in the goaltending! going into the season, several of us knew the defense was weak. i even argued in circles about how that reason alone was bound to color ANY and all arguments my fellow Kings fans were destined to have about our unproven netminders.

the biggest issue(s) is (are) not the player personel however... it's the system, and an organization that lacks ANY vision or philosophy outside of the magic number... 18,118!

Dave Tippett was a boon to this organization, and they let him (and his #1 power play) walk... and they allowed Philippe Boucher to follow him.
