Yes. The wind of change. The players will listen to it. But how long will this glory night last?

I had to go back a few pages of threads to find this thread. That is a good sign.

Seems to be a players coach...and a good communicator...has so much more credibility than Therrien....

Better but still pretenders....

We have 1 scoring line, and some questionable defense and one great goalie.

1 goalie and 3 people that score isn't going to win us a cup. That is a fact.

Price was the system with MT. Price is the system with CJ.

We've played great hockey under MT before(let's not kid ourselves saying otherwise) and we're playing better defensively as of late under CJ.

I guess my biggest question is if he can bring us back to the form(or similar) of the start of the year and sustain it(something MT couldn't do).

you might consider that it takes time to implement a system... any coach with 1/2 a brain would make his system "Price" in the first few weeks after taking over, if that luxury were there.

MT had 5 years... and his system was still "Price".

Those two situations aren't at all similar.

If CJ's system is still "Price" this time next year, then maybe that comparison can start to be made.

We didn't play "great" system hockey at any time under MT, at least not from the games I saw (admittedly not all of them). We went on hot streaks at various times, but even in our best stretches of wins, there were lots of signs of how much luck and price contributed to the W/L results.

I'm not a huge fan of CJ's style, but he's shown himself to be a very good coach, that's something MT never did.

Pick support on Zone exits is far better, that's the biggest difference so far.

Watching Julien interact and meet the players in the last episode of 24CH was refreshing to see as it's clear he's a players coach. He doesn't need an assistant to be the buffer between him and the players. We haven't had a coach like that since Demers.

We already see the habs with a better puck possession. A lot less of dump and chase.

Voted same old Habs as I feel it is more structured, yet the results are the same. Offensive struggles are still very real and execution poor (though the latter is more about the general confidence).

For sure, but they are still making the transition, and only a couple of the guys seem to be fine with it............so glad we now have a real coach, who can teach.

Grind deez guys, really lost it's effectiveness.

He's a brand new voice with fresh ideas that eventually will become redundant in years from now.

But as of today, Habs can count on one of the best coach in the NHL.
Some talked about respect for years, this one earned it.

- Galchenyuk, Plekanec, Danault, Mitchell as a center line as it should have been from day 1.
- Galchenyuk back on the top line, Plekanec back in a 2-way role and Desharnais back in the press box.

- Can actually speak english and didn't use the terms compete or focus.

Pretty good first day.......but is it enough?

Discuss
Funny to read that. It lasted one game... Julien looks good just because Price decided to play again. Otherwise it would be the same thing. Plekanec is done and Chucky cannot handle the 1C job.

We still lack top 6 talent on this team and no one will dispute that. I have to ask though, do you guys think that this team would win games under MT like the ones we have gutted out under Julien?

Im loving the coaching change so far. Huge difference in how he handles the media and game time situations.

Well I mean, we've done it before. 6 games is probably too soon to say anything definitively. But if Price was giving up 2 goals or less like he's done every game under Julien, Therrien would probably still be here.

I think we're better defensively. Offense still seems to be as elusive as it was under Therrien. So again it comes down to Price. We still have only 1 regulation win (and barely one at that) under Julien, which is a little concerning.

I don't think that this roster is ever going to blow any teams out and scoring is at a premium league wide. Julien said today that his objective was to tighten things down defensively and now he was going to try some things on offense, it will be interesting to see what he can do with this group, I agree that it is early and time will tell.

I mean if we win round 1 I have a hard time seeing us losing to another Atlantic Division team unless Tampa puts it together.
