The Official Cristobal Huet Thread

Let's try to keep all Huet talk organized like our thread on Theodore.

I think Huet played extremely well tonight and hopefully this drives Theodore into a frantic state where he finds his game again.

I always liked him in LA, and thought he would be a good backup when we got him. He's proving to be more than that lately.

To celebrate his great tentacle save in the third, I suggest we call him The French Tickler.

If Theodore feeds on this, look out. He seems to be the type of person that wouldn't like losing his ford endorsement to Cristoballlll.

You should call him by his true and only nick : CRISTO

Wouldn't it be amazing if he took over the team and carried us far, very far in the playoffs...

Hard to say if he is the long term solution. And I think the long term success of the team rests of Theo's shoulders. That said he has been great in almost all his games so far and I hope he can keep it up.

I never fought I would live to see a french from france establish him self as the habs best player. I mean its so dam funny. Got to give it to huet, if the habs are in a position to make the playoffs its been in large part because of him.

One good thing with Huet is that hes always calm and under control. The pressure doesnt seem to bother him one bit.

the problem is that gaineys still going to keep trying theo because the is our overpaid starter

basically it's, wow Huet i put you in net because we were struggling with theo, you record two shutouts and play amazing, but were are never going to giveup on Theo (he's getting all our money)

I can't see how he will not receive that honour...

I'm so happy for Huet! I don't know what Bob Gainey will do with our goaltender situation...it's not easy for sure...

Huet - He's playing like an all star and we need to re-sign him at the end of the season...he's showing that he can be a #1 and if we keep Theo, he might want to go somewhere else...

Theo - Everyone know how he's playing this season...I don't know what we could receive for him and if we would be able to move him somewhere but it might be the best thing for him, and the team. We could probably receive a good top 4 defenceman for him.

Danis - He's learning and waiting in the AHL. He can take the back up role next year for sure. Might not be ready to play more than 25 games per season, but he might be ready too...it's hard to really know his status.

Price - He should be ready to do somthing for us in 3-4 years so if we sign Huet for that period of time, we might be in business to win the cup in 2009

Question: Is Huet a UFA this Summer?

Habsworld says RFA, but doesn't the fact that he's 30 years old qualify him for unrestrictedness?

FREE AGENCY

How will Free Agency work?

Unrestricted Free Agency - For the 2005-06 season, a player age 31 with four accrued seasons will be an unrestricted free agent; in 2006-07, a player age 29 with four accrued seasons or with eight accrued seasons; in 2007-08, a player age 28 with four accrued seasons or with seven accrued seasons; beginning in 2008-09 and for the duration of the agreement, a player age 27 with four accrued seasons or with seven accrued seasons will be an unrestricted free agent. For purposes of qualifying for unrestricted free agency, the 2004-05 cancelled season will be counted as a year of accrued service.
Whatever is age, he will only have 3 NHL season, so RFA
though, 2002-03 season he played only 12 games, I don't think it count
