While the Calgary Flames certainly addressed one of their needs by acquiring veteran back-up goaltender Brian Boucher from the Phoenix Coyotes earlier in the week, it appears as though they may not be done dealing just yet. Sources indicate the Flames are scouring the market for a depth number 6 or 7 defenseman to replace the injured Bryan Marchment, as well as a front line centre to play alongside franchise winger Jarome Iginla. However, if for whatever reason, the Flames are unable to land a true number one centre via trade, look for them to try and bolster their top-nine with a deal similar to the one they made with the Florida Panthers a few weeks back that netted them scoring winger Kristian Huselius. Reports indicate the Flames may also be close to signing UFA RW Owen Nolan to a two-year incentive laden contract (a deal could be announced by as early as next week.) Either way don't look for all three of Byron Ritchie, Jason Wiemer, and Chris Simon (who's rumoured to be headed back to New York) to finish the season in Kowtown, as it is all but certain at least one (if not two) of them will be shipped out of town by the March 9 trading deadline. Stay tuned..
