As captain, how do you say goodbye to the room?

Vogl tweeted that he wanted out.

It's a d-bag move on so many levels.

Nice show of loyalty Cal to the organization that gave you a 2 year one way deal. I doubt a single other team would have given him a guaranteed $1.4 million over 2 years.

Rumor is Cal had a sit down with Craig Rivet and asked him how you deal with being the captain of a bad team.

Meh, so Cal wanted out. Not really surprising considering he would lie a shot in the NHL, even as a bottom 6 player.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. He wanted out, the organization honored that request.

What percentage of good AHL vets do you think "would like a shot in the NHL" in any capacity? I'll be conservative and guess around 99.5%, but it may be closer to 100%. The difference is, most of those guys don't beg off their teams after the trade deadline because they aren't happy.

This move doesn't give him a shot, though. It accomplishes nothing other than getting him on another AHL team for a month.

Not quite Amerks but I cant think of a better place to put it. Elmira Jackals have announced today that the Jackals will cease operations at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season.

The ECHL is not at all an entertaining league. On top of that, you generally don't get the pleasure of watching even marginal future NHLers.

This one isn't on PSE, the Jackals have had issues with ownership and the arena for a long time. It's amazing they lasted this long.

Nick Baptiste not in the lineup for the second game in a row, last game they said he's away from the team for 'personal reasons'. Must be quite serious.

Wonder if Elmira shutting down paves the way for the Pegulas to own their own ECHL team and have them play in Harbor Center

I highly doubt it. ECHL teams rarely make money to begin with and I can't imagine PSE saturating the market with another team plus WJCs in Buffalo next year.

I wonder how much TM tries to improve the Amerks next season. It can't be good to have your young guys lose at every level of the organization. Maybe Tim needs to hire a dedicated GM for Rochester. God knows he has enough work with the big club.
